When ignorance is bliss

This is a short but disgusting one. Prepare to be repulsed.
We had a cockroach problem. We started to see a few in the kitchen. Then one day I saw one come out of the drain in the bathroom. Enough is enough I thought. I rang 'the guy'. He came and did some sort of magic.
Now we have cockroaches dying on our floors by the second. I do a perimeter sweep (literally) 4 times a day and still the bodies are piling up.
We are talking millions. It is repugnant. I now worry about how many times all these creatures ran across our bench tops at night.  I preferred it when I thought we just had a few. Now I KNOW we HAD an empire of them. A Lord of the Rings army load of them. Anyone considering this, it's worth every cent but be prepared to be revolted, and embarrassed anytime a visitor drops by. Even if you sweep the carcasses one minute prior to their arrival, there will still be a body count for them to witness on departure.
Sometimes, ignorance is bliss.

  1. That is so funny to read this. I was only thinking of my old laptop this morning, which got infested - my old home had a similar problem to yours and they apparantly liked the warmth - so gross!!! I feared spraying because my poppet was only little so i used to try and do it organically - which didn't work - i moved so the problem went but i really feel for you. Nice to catch up with you too Lydia C. And I hope the roaches have gone once and for all. Merry!

  4. Oh no it's not! You now have carcasses which is 100% better than the scurrying, dirty, hiding, conniving and alive ones.
Once the death field is finished you will be feeling so much better and secure knowing that any other that dares to try will be dealt a lethal blow :)

  5. I don't think cockroaches really 'do' Tasmania - lucky for us - but I stayed in Sydney once, on a mattress on the floor - and woke up with two charming black beetles beside my head ... gah!!!!!! Good luck with yours.

  6. Oh yuk!! They would have been over everything, ignorance was bliss for sure!

At least they are dying now. Might take a few weeks for it to settle down though by the sound of it.

    1. Hmmm, spiders don't have the same repugnance but they have an extra scary edge...

    1. Is that ants related to termites or just ants? I think I'd take ants over roaches... But not if the termites are following...

  9. We had a german roach problem a few years back - some of our appliances became infested in a rental property and we carried them to our first real home. It took a few attempts to get rid of the buggers (and the replacement of some of the infested appliances too!) but we got there in the end. It will be worth it!

  10. We had the same problem when we lived in Cairns. The house was brand new & spotless but they thrived in the humid weather.

Won't be long now & the body count will be finalised.

    Prue x
