Things I (don't) know...

A variation on Riddle me this? so I can tenuously do my first ever Things I know....

Ten Things I Don't Know:

1. How does the skeleton grow? It seems to grow from the middle of the bones? And how does the skull get bigger? Then you think of exoskeletons, the animal busts out completely to form a new bigger covering, that just seems much simpler and practical - we wouldn't need bike helmets. (Don't bother telling me to google it, I understand the theory of it, just can't fit it together in my brain).
2. When did we become people that voted for what was best for us personally, not what was best for the less fortunate, both here and around the globe?
3. Why is the music industry so destructive for women? And where are the adults to these young children, demanding control? (And frankly clothes??!! I know I'm old but seriously, the women need to put clothes on and the men just seem totally sleazy, and slightly creepy*).
4. How can three children from the same gene pool and environment be so different in looks and personality? (I'm serious, I really don't understand this - we have 2 that look like one family and one that you would think was from another).
5. Why can kids, who you love so much, drive you more nuts than anyone else on the planet? How can one so young be so adept at pushing your buttons?
6. Why does our hair go grey? What's the point? And why doesn't the fur of animals go grey? Why aren't our dogs grey?
7. Why do I still struggle with school lunches, but not holiday lunches, when off on a day trip?
8. Why are there so many great things on but you only find out about half of them once they're over?
9.Why do some people get upset they weren't invited to something, even though they were away? (yep, I have one of those friends)
10. Why can some animals fend for themselves at an early age, yet human teenagers be so useless round the house?

Do you know the answers? Or feel free to add your own questions.
*Talking to you, Robin Thicke.

  1. These are brilliant!

I want to point out a particular one that resonates with me more than the others but they're all the same... I'm going to be distracted all day now thinking about these!

  3. As always, I love your posts !!!
I agree with all but especially with #3.
BTW - dogs actually do go grey - although maybe not all breeds of dogs but I have seen some dogs getting more grey in their coats.
    Have the best day !

    2. I have seen chocolate labs go grey! Usually in the whiskers around the nose/mouth. :) x Aroha

  4. Found myself nodding in agreement with all of these - but especially numbers three and five!

I have long thought most music videos are bordering on pornographic and it's only getting worse (think Miley Cyrus) ... and the lyrics too.

    1. Ah Miley & Rhianna. Ladies, you're the star, you're meant to have people throwing themselves at you!! You don't need to do that stuff (at least not on stage!)

    2. I seriously can't listen to even the radio any more. At least, not the stations I used to. It's golden oldies for me all the way now, at least when my 5 year old is in the car! We all thought our parents were over reacting when it was us. That was the beginning of the downward spiral, I think! It can all be blamed on Like A Virgin. x Aroha

  5. Now you're making me think, and I'm going to have to google how the skeleton grows.

    Cheers,

    1. It's the bones with joints that puzzle me - they must grow from the middle so the joint ends don't distort...

  6. I've found a tuft, yes a freaking tuft of grey hair recently. What the actual?
You pose some very good questions...

    1. My mum went fully grey at thirty. I've done well (as I'm a decade past that) but I'm waiting for the day...

  7. No one will ever actually tell you how soul and sanity leaching children are, why is that?! What's the big secret? I think it's an unspoken truth. sad but true.
Talent=more clothes in music clips ;) I dread when my daughters start watching music shows, it certainly is different from when I was a teenager. I'm cautious leaving the music show on telly with a four year old running around. Thems moves I don't want her doing in public!!
I am sure our little dog looked more grey around the muzzle as she aged(jack russell).

  8. I love these all, especially 3,4,5 and 6. As my 11 month old was chasing me and the vaccuum cleaner around yesterday, I pondered how it can be that my two kids are so different. One kid feared the vaccuum cleaner as a bub, the other would hop on and ride it if she could ...

  9. Brilliant things not to know Lydia! Thank you so much for joining in I loved your list. I will now spend the rest of the day thinking about how bones grow!

  10. Point #2 really got me riled up during this election. From what I heard/read on social media - everyone wanted a return to surplus and an end to the "wasteful" spending. Fine. However no one was volunteering to have their particular benefits cut. It was often a case of "why should x group of people get payments when we dont". Uninformed rubbish. NB: Its not that I condoned the ALP's shambolic performance, its just that the ignorant and ill considered cliches still being bandied about really annoyed me.
Thanks for letting me rant. ;-)

  11. Things I don't know - love your interpretation! Re: point 4 - I thought this about my own two children. To me, they look completely different. Then I uploaded a bunch of photos of them to facebook, and good ol' fb wanted to tag them both as the same person. So I guess there's something similar there after all!

  12. My dogs have grey around the muzzle! But they don't go bald... And I agree completely about how different they all are! Kids I mean... not dogs:)
