Optimism

Children have a built in optimism. More often than not. This is gradually eroded over time, and we become either the half full or half empty adults. It's such a waste.

I don't understand why we are born with such great qualities but these get quashed over time. I wish there was some way to get them back.

My daughter had made a Hama bead heart, and I ironed it, but there were two beads in the centre that would not stick together, so it effectively had a hole in the heart. My girl just looks at it and says merrily "It doesn't matter, it still looks a tiny bit great."

We can never be perfect, we can never get all that we desire in life but let's aim for realising what we have and what we do is still a tiny bit great.

Linking up an old post with #Lifethisweek as lockdown seems to have stunted my enthusiasm to write.I also may not be taking the blogging break as I'm no longer away...such is life. Stay safe everyone!

  3. I think if we can all be a tiny bit great, even when we feel the complete and utter opposite then that is a good thing. Maybe that can be my aim for today - to be a tiny bit great? xx

  4. Being a tiny bit great, that's all that we can hope for yeah? Our kids have so much capacity to teach us don't they? Especially about being happy and positive.

  5. I love that it's a tiny bit great! Love it :)
Great is actually a great word.
My brother-in-law always answers the question "how are you" with a very enthusiastic "Great!" He says it actually makes him feel great, and when I hear that enthusiastic and very spirited answer to my question it makes me feel great too.
I love that your daughter can see that things can be a tiny bit great ...
    Gorgeous!
    Happy Friday!

  6. Imagine being naively optimistic forever. Never getting hurt emotionally, no heartache. Amazing.

  7. "tiny bit great" - I love it.
We live in the world we're nothing ever seems to be good enough and no amount of success will lead to happiness. I so agree with you that we just need to make the most and be truly grateful for what we already have. Because really, putting it in perspective, it's helluva lot.

  11. It takes a simple bit of wisdom from a child to wake us up doesn't it!

  13. Such a beautiful sentiment, "a tiny bit great".
I too often ponder on when and how our child like beauty gets changed for adultness.

  15. That's beautiful. Children really have so much to teach us. I think if we listen carefully enough, they can guide us back to that organic optimism that we lose as we grow older.

  22. I love that, I'm going to add "tiny bit great" to my vernacula (don't even know if I've used that word in context but I'm a half full person so don't even care.) Sorry you can't go on holiday, we had to cancel our weekend away for my 50th - wah - and I'll be swapping the Blue Mountains for lockdown at home instead! Still it will be a change from hotel quarantine and that will be more than a tiny bit great :)
