'Don't let people drive you crazy when you know it's in walking distance.' Unknown

With the stairs finished, and the long walks looming, I've begun ducking into town on foot early Saturday mornings. This moment of peace and freedom, and a chance to enjoy our beautiful city is a great way to start the day, and I can be home by 9am as the walk is a little over an hour, then a short train ride back.

I've also taken to walking with one of the kids to hunt Pokemon. It's our time alone, to talk and laugh and catch up. When you have three or more kids, you know only too well that the squeaky wheel gets the oil, and sometimes things can be missed, as there are so many places to be and things to attend in the day to day rush of school and family life.

I love seeing different parts of the city with new eyes on these walks. Things I never had the time to notice while running errands or getting from A to B.

As the pictures show, it's not hard to love life when you're enveloped in beauty.

What are you loving this week?

  1. I've only had two nights in my new place Lydia and have woken up early on both occasions. Mostly be women's related issues, but still... I'm wondering if this will be a whole new way of life - early mornings. Of course I've moaned all day about my early starts, but I wouldn't mind becoming a bit more of a morning person.

I'd also like to start doing a little bit of exercise but haven't managed to motivate myself yet.

  4. Pokemon hunting is doing great things for so many people.
I love finding new spots around Sydney. You miss so much in the car. When Tahlia has photo shoots around different areas I get to wander off and it is amazing what I find. It's a sensational part of the world. I love that you are hanging out with Sydney as she wakes up ...

  11. Great photos! That's funny that you walk with your kid to find Pokemon. That's how I get my 12 year old to take a walk with me. He can hatch eggs by walking around with the app on, so something like that. ;)

  15. Great photos of Sydney! I would be interested to know what routes and walks do you take? I have done quite a few walking tracks on the coast, like Coogee to Bondi, Manly to Spit Bridge, Federation Cliff Walk and planning to do Coogee to Maroubra and also across the Harbour bridge soon. If you have any suggestions for me where else to go, I'd love to hear! www.adventuroustrails.com

  17. How fortunate are you to be out and about at different times of the day than the norm to capture such gorgeous photos of your city.
Love your first and last photos x

  18. Beautiful photos. I've spent a decade walking, refusing to become a two-car family, and it really is a great way to get those kids talking.

I just got my first wheels - a bike with a child seat, and I must admit that I enjoy not living in slow motion any more. We now get wherever we want at a much faster pace.
