First of the Month Fiction - March

Very quick one - I'm a little uninspired and there's a myriad of other things I need to do alas.

So for newcomers, you write a story in exactly 100 words, or one less than 30 words, in the comments, then add a link to your blog if you have one, so we can see your unfettered work.

Mine is less than 30.

She looked at him in disgust, then resolutely walked out the door for the very last time. He deleted the photo on his phone, but it was too late.

Have a great month everybody.

He looked at her in bewilderment. The credit card was maxed out. Again. He scanned the statement and realised it was his recent purchase that put them over the limit.

  3. I envy your writing ability. I can never use words so succinctly to only use less than 30 words to portray such an interesting story!

  4. This could be my one new thing this week, attempting fiction in less than 30 words.

My brain hurts. I've got nothing. Probably best to attempt this when I've had more than 2 hours sleep.

Padlocks on the door hadn’t persuaded the thieves to give up. When Maggie went to water the garden, Grannie’s piano was gone, along with the indelible ghosts of her fingerprints.

  8. My attempt, less than 30:

She turned over the engine and clicked her seatbelt. She wouldn't be tempted to look in the rear-view mirror, it was the broken white line that would lead the way.

    Here's mine:

The pessimist in her said there wasn't time. The optimist argued back. All it takes is five minutes. Do it now! She opened the document and started typing. Her hands wouldn't move fast enough and her mind was a void. Any minute he would open the door. Interrupt her flow. These stolen moments were all she had. It had to be enough. For now. The glorious day when she would have infinite time was a fantasy. She had to see the opportunity inside a difficulty. Think differently. Take action. Any action. A hundred words were better than no words. Done.

  11. “Love me two times, babe
    Love me twice today
    Love me two times, babe
    'Cause I'm goin' away”
Another Saturday night in the barn at Blake’s place shunning the top 40.

The uniform of greatcoat and Doc Martins grew in popularity until it was taboo to be without it. The Doors greatest hits, fire in 44 gallon drums and hard liquor the norm.

Sullen, world spinning, he staggered out to the paddock beyond the machinery shed and collapsed. Only moonlight and the house cat to keep him company. Misty rain falling but unable to move he shut his eyes. Youth.
