My friend was away so I took an early morning walk around the harbour, instead of our usual trek on the weekend.
It was glorious so see the city without the crowds.
My main aim was to see Mushrooms - the installation outside the MCA.
It was sobering, a little depressing (we never learn and are so wasteful of human life) but also quite surreal with the beautiful background.
Further detail on the art and artist here.

they look like soldiers helmets from the WW2. What do they represent? Sydney Harbour is a lovely place to walk. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteYou can read about it in the link but to me, it's the lives lost in war that sprout up like mushrooms - literally. So many, so many - individuals lost in the mass of them.
DeleteInteresting exhibit, I like the views of the Harbor.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a happy Wednesday!
That's a beautiful but very sobering installation. I know the helmets must be representing lost lives, but a particular war? From reading the link, I could tell it was inspired by Germany's Ukraine helmets, but I couldn't pickup if it referred to that war in particular or war in general. In any event, amazing to see it without throngs of people. And on another note, thanks for coming by after "Talking About..." and visiting Marmelade Gypsy!
ReplyDeleteI took it as all war.
DeleteFeels surreal. The close up photo of the raindrops is very evocative.

Oh my, that's incredible..
ReplyDeleteA unique installation to honour those who have been lost. So sad that we lose so many beautiful people to endless wars.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's honouring the loss, it's criticising the loss.
DeleteThe little mushrooms look like Mallowpuffs (a type of biscuit here) - much the same shape, I agree with you about human life - people just don't care these days
ReplyDeleteDramatic look.
ReplyDeleteA thought-provoking art installation. Ai Weiwei did an installation of bicycles in Toronto a while ago. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.
ReplyDeleteVery unique and thought provoking installation.
ReplyDeleteSo sad indeed. To many lose their lives.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
