I was sick last week so things went off the boil, and I've decided as of next week, I'll take a 2 week hiatus to enjoy the school holidays and have some fun with the kids, and avoid the temptation of my iphone distraction. A little more living in the moment.
I am indeed one of those mums who thrives on school holidays and struggles during the term time. So I may as well go full pelt into lazy days ahead.
So first of the month fiction will go live on Friday, and then you can enjoy some radio silence from Where the Wild Things Were.
I will keep my eye on all of you, from time to time...but forgive me if my comments are down.
These holidays I am looking forward to seeing the great art of Turner and strolling in the chilly mountains. A bit of theatre, for both me and the kids. I might even exercise. (WHAT?).
To all of you having a break, enjoy! To all of you running full steam ahead, good for you!
As I have a few 'blank days' in the holidays, and a limited budget (as I spent it on Turner), what is your top tip for holiday fun? What thing are you looking forward to the most in the next 2 weeks?
Linking up with Essentially Jess for IBOT. Pop over and see who else is hanging around there.
Great idea! We still have2 weeks of school left!!
ReplyDeleteYou could incorporate that weird word you used 'exercise' with a free activity and find a great short hike, and pack a picnic!
That is the plan...but today's rain is making me worry about all this outdoor stuff...hmmmm
DeleteI love school holidays too, and am looking forward to them - hope you have a lovely break! :)
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteLydia! Sounds like you def need the R and R.. time away form the iphone and idevices is hard sometimes but after the first few hours it feels AMAZING!!!! Hope you have the most wonderful 2 week holidays! xx Meagan
ReplyDeleteand you too
DeleteI think it's a great idea to take the time off to enjoy with your family. I believe that holidays are for holidays so take the time and cherish those moments (even if they do involve exercise).

yes, I think I need to focus a little more in the right places..
Deleteyay! for first of the month fiction (might write mine tonight)as for the holidays - a few trips to the movies, coffee's with friends, I'm still working, so the days are still numbered - but certainly lazy and more fun xx
ReplyDeleteyay on FOTMF - and I have my Conversations with the mirror ready for tomorrow!
DeleteI have a friend who is doing geochaching with his kids in the holidays. Apparently theres an app you can download that helps you find 'treasure'. I'm thinking that's a good cheap activity to keep everyone interested.
ReplyDeleteWe've got four weeks of holidays here, and I love it!!!
we once did it at a resort with a satnav device, which was UNREAL - I keep meaning to get into it. I've even looked up sites...but we never do. Must reinvestigate.
DeleteGo you, I wish I had your persistence, enjoy the break but keep us up to date with how you are from time to time :) Em
ReplyDeleteI will. I'm kidding myself if I think I can keep off the internet the whole time without being in another country (and phoneless)
DeleteHave a great break Lydia - Turner and the mountain strolls sound awesome. Kimxx
ReplyDeletehoping so...
DeleteBecause we live in cold old Canberra we like to escape in winter. So this year it is Hawaii. We leave in two weeks. But I have to say ... staying at home ain't so bad either coz Canberra now has the outdoor ice skating rink in the middle of the city which provides loads of fun for the kids. And then there is also the galleries, museums and the zoo. Plenty to do!!
ReplyDeleteLeanne @ Deep Fried Fruit
Thanks for the tip on the ice rink - that sounds just our scene - will investigate - post gallery, predinner skating...
DeleteAnd I am very big on visiting Hawaii so look forward to hearing tips...
DeleteHave you seen Always Josefa's photos of the sea turtles there? AMAZING~!
DeleteSorry I can't help with school holiday stuff - I would just love to be holiday but will have to wait until 12 August when we leave for Tassie !!!
ReplyDeleteHope you find heaps to keep you all occupied without breaking the bank.
Have the best time !
Me
Have a wonderful wonderful time with your kids lovely. The weather here is so perfect for outdoor activities that we will spend most of our time at the beach or in parks.
