Linking up a short, old post, which pretty much sums up what I've learnt from the internet:
This week on Facebook, I have learnt about the Druze Community - always fascinating to learn something new and realise how little you know. I have picked up an expression from a French band "Be there, Be hot!" and I have also learnt what a box gap is (we don't really need to dwell on this - but I shake my head at the thought, and what's with the women that post these photos??)
So this is a reflective snap shot of Facebook - could be so interesting and informative, occasionally is but usually isn't.
Linking up with The Lounge.
And a reminder that next week is First of the Month Fiction, for those that wish to join in - look for it Tuesday....
I think I must be living under a rock - have no idea what any of these are! Best go get me some edu-ma-cation me thinks! ;)
ReplyDeleteno need to google box gap (like I did) - it's not pretty...but it is apparently popular...
DeleteI love Facebook. I love the colours if the imiages I subscribe to and the snapshot of people 's lives. I just find understanding how to use it with an iPad a bit of a pain. Have a grt weekend x
ReplyDeleteI like it too, well I like it when it's interesting...let's put it that way.
Delete:-0 I don't think I want to know what a box gap is ... but already my mind is in overdrive and I can imagine... oh dear.
ReplyDeleteI am stunned (horrified/mortified/petrified) by what I see my kids friends posting on facebook, what is with the duck-face pout? I swear this isn't the Y-generation, this is the selfie-generation. Crazy
probably not in overdrive on box gap, that's what it is. As for duckface, my 50 year old male friend did one (to be funny) and it's HILARIOUS! I want him to make it his profile pic as I can't look at it and not crack up!
DeleteThanks Lydia, just had to Google box gap! I'm kind of over FB, much prefer Instagram now.
ReplyDeletesorry about that - glad it's not in your random zen ten...
DeleteOh, I'll have to look them up! And yes, it sums up Facebook just nicely doesn't it? Can be so laborious in trying to keep in touch with everyone through it too.
ReplyDeleteno, don't look it up - you can keep in touch but a lot of people don't actually engage, so it's not really keeping in touch, but those that do, you can have daily little chats with far flung friends...
DeleteP.S Lovely meeting you today!
ReplyDeleteand you - sorry I'd already left the drinks before you got there...
DeleteFacebook drives me nuts with how much stuff is posted on there....yet I keep returning to it :)
ReplyDeleteit is for most people, a love-hate thing - the problem is, you friend people who maybe you don't want to engage of FB with, but you don't know that til you already have. I post a ton of random crap (rarely ever real news) so don't friend me...;)
DeleteHaha 'Be there! Be hot!' I'm going to have to start using that. Afraid I do know what a box gap is, but people post PHOTOS!? This I can't fathom. Facebook hey? Like a zoo.
ReplyDeleteI'm using Be there, be hot! all the time - and after making fun of the bad for their odd English, we went to the Gin Mill Social last week and my friend posted 1920's vocab, so we could all be realistic in the speakeasy, and Get Hot! Get Hot! was said to encourage a dancer...so maybe they didn't just make it up...
DeleteI think you are following some interesting people!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, you could say that. The whole box gap thing came up in an article about women, by women (and not as a negative thing???) Go figure that!!
DeleteI'm not sure what is more sad..that box gap is a thing or that I already knew what it was without having to google it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with us at The Lounge!
I don't what box gap is and I'm afraid to find out in case it's what I think it might be. So much good and bad about the internet.
ReplyDeleteGah. That was meant to be I don't KNOW. Obviously...
