First of the Month Fiction - February

Finally back from a long hiatus. Same rules as always - write 100 word story (in exactly 100 words) or a story in less than 30.

Put your story in the comments then link your blog so we can see your style in unfettered form. Mine is 100 words:

He had pretended to forget their anniversary, as the big game was that night and his friends had a ticket for him. Better to seek forgiveness than beg for permission, he chuckled. He was relieved when she failed to remind him in the morning. He left a note that he would be out late.

The beers flowed, his team won. He hoped the fight wouldn’t be a tearful one. He hated those.

However, there was no fight at all. She’d packed her bags and left, leaving no note. The silence of the empty house accusing him of too much neglect.

  2. Awww. Too late mate. Would love to see where this one goes. Do you ever take any of your 100 word stories further? I hope you had a lovely break. #teamIBOT

  3. A little rusty, but here it goes for the first attempt for 2105:

“Tap tap,” the sound echoed through the silent room. Darkness clung to the air heavy suffocating. She stirred. “Tap tap.” She opened her eyes. His dim figure barely visible offset against the moonlight outside. “Tap tap.” She rose out of bed in a trance almost, walking over to the sound, walking to him. Her night dress caught the breeze as she threw open the latch and the wind filled her room. Arms outstretched she reached into his. It was the beginning of the end. All they would ever find: her torn night dress on the rose bush outside the window.

  4. I need to sit down and do this. It's harder than it seems to write a story in 100 words. I love being creative though so I will give it a go. :)

  5. Such a good story in so few words Lydia. I'm too tired right now but I will come back when I rustle up some inspiration.
