Merry & Bright

There is no escaping Christmas in this country. Spare a thought for the Jews and Muslims (and everyone else who doesn't recognise the holiday) who have a nonstop barrage of trees, lights and music for a good two months every time they step foot out the door.

However, for me, it's been bringing a smile to my face, and as they say in the song, it's made my days merry and bright.

We made our gingerbread houses and are beginning to festoon the house with twinkling lights...(I just need to find them from the move - they're packed in the roof somewhere).

On a different note, this has really touched me, so if you can spare a few bucks, please donate asap. I know nothing about this charity, it just popped up on my facebook. Give & Take appeal for suits for high school boys for formal (mother fleeing domestic violence)

  9. Don't forget us atheists! But to be honest, I love Christmas. I don't worry about the religious aspect- it's a cultural tradition, I guess?

    1. I figure atheists are happy to jump on board for the 'season' but to people of other beliefs, it's a big FU rammed down your throat...me, I don't care but I wish the gift thing wasn't part of it. Giving gifts to people that don't need anything...ahhhh.

  11. What a wonderful idea to give suits to boys for their formal. We usually concentrate so much on girls but I'm sure these young men would really appreciate being able to dress for their formal. Loving the Gingerbread house.

    1. I've been deeply concerned about those boys since I read it. No idea why...I'm hoping enough was donated in time....

  13. Great gingerbread house! I've got a couple of friends who are Jewish (one here and one in the US) and they 'celebrate' Christmas for the sake of their kids but probably with less gusto than most of the western world!

  14. I have a friend who due to her religion doesn't celebrate Christmas or birthdays. This time of year is really hard on her daughter, as a lot of the craft in class is based around Christmas.
