I had a fly in, fly out lunch in Melbourne the other day. I went for Hockney (definitely go if you haven't been already) and then raced to Supernormal and then back to the airport. Luxury and indulgence at it's best.
I've not been to the NGV for a good decade, I think. It was really nice to return. I enjoyed the streetscape, the art of the building and of course, the art IN the building. (The street art was covered in last weeks post).
I really hope to get back to Melbourne this year for a weekend, as they're is so much to see and do. It's an ever changing city with so much of whatever takes your fancy.
Do you look closely at the buildings that house the art? Are you in love with Hockney at the moment? Do you adore Melbourne?
Linking with #WeekendReflection for the top pic & the mirror pillars.
I love Melbourne - I doubt I could live there but I love to visit.
ReplyDeleteMissed Melbourne both times we were in Australia, but definitely on my list of places to visit.

ReplyDeleteHave a tanfastic week & thanks for agreeing by :-)
I have never been to Melbourne, and can't imagine flying for more than 30 hours at my age, but your photos bring something of Melbourne to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you!

Interesting, I am sure that I would like Melbourne if circumstances found me there at some point.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post and pics.
ReplyDeleteGreetings.
Most buildings that house art are interesting - either quite modern or very majestic old buildings.
ReplyDeleteLove the stained glass window and also the old Indian building.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a stained glass roof! Such a brilliant idea!
DeleteI love Melbourne. The street art is plentiful and the buildings are quite interesting. I have not seen Hockney though.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to visit Melbourne. Great collection of pics
ReplyDeleteI have been there once. What beautiful pics.

Yes I love an occasional trip to Melbourne. I like how all the little laneways in the city have quirky coffee shops and little boutiques. It's coffee heaven! #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteWow, you totally packed it in for one day's trip! Nice work :)
ReplyDeleteWow - lucky you seeing Hockey's exhibition at NGV! For 79 he is incredibly innovative, not to mention talented! I haven't been to Melbourne since 2012 and I'm dying to go back! I love it there. #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Hockney?!
ReplyDeleteThe Wiki version David Hockney, OM, CH, RA (born 9 July 1937) is an English painter, draughtsman, printmaker, stage designer and photographer. An important contributor to the pop art movement of the 1960s, he is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century.[1][2]
DeleteMy description: Colourful, fun, joyful artist (or makes art that fits that description). You can not help but beam with delight in his exhibitions.
DeleteI'm with you - I love art galleries & the NGV is a fabulous space. That exhibition would have been special.
ReplyDeleteI do love galleries, but have yet to visit Melbourne properly. I've only been to the airport on a stopover :( #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteWe don't really get to Melbourne. By living in Sydney and having family in Adelaide and Perth we tend to have to miss it.
ReplyDeleteAlso Melbourne weather is colder and a bit bleak for me :)
Great photos though :)
Get yourself a tiger flight - it's SUCH a great weekend destination!!
DeleteLove the coloured window

Great quote Mr Churchill!
ReplyDeleteHey, is it true that Sydney Park is going to be shut down and built on? The park we had a cuppa in? I hope I heard that wrong because that park is gorgeous!

Not all of it, but yes. Part of the ongoing disaster of Westconnex. They're also building right next to a local school. It's a mess.
