How good is the air quality?

You can vaguely see Centrepoint tower when I zoomed in

I know I shouldn't complain because we are a long way from harm, but the air quality is disgusting, and causing chest and breathing issues - and I'm not even asthmatic, so I can't imagine how those poor people are coping.

I am very thankful for last night's rain, but the app still shows half the state ablaze, albeit not as out of control as before.

I hope the PM has finally organised to meet with Greg Mullins & Co, those fire chiefs, and a task force and action plan is being fast tracked to avoid more of the same. Regardless of the cause, action should be taken, if only for immediate investment in Fire and Rescue NSW and the National Parks staff to clear the fire trails.

    1. So do I. I feel quite selfish complaining about the air when there's so much devastation going on. But I'm getting chest tightness and coughing constantly...it's doing my head in.

  6. Hope your PM isn't blaming the fires on improper raking like Trump and will meet with the Fire and Emergency Council to take action. It must be pretty awful to live in that level of air quality. I would also think the national parks will be taken care of along with everyone affected. Take care, Lydia.

    1. Our PM told the fire affected communities they could have a great summer watching the cricket. On what, I'm not entirely sure, as they lost their tv and radios along with their houses...but you know...(Insert incredulous eye roll)

  7. It is so sad to hear about the fires there. I can't imagine what you all are going through, but you are in my prayers. It seems that these things are more and more frequent.

    1. I saw a post from a very angry farmer who I gather lost a lot, including suffering livestock. It made me cry.We should have prepared for this at a government level.

  9. I hate to hear about all the fires. We are in California and there have been some bad ones. A big rain and snow storm has just passed through so I hope it dampens things enough to stop or at least slow them down. - Margy

  10. I am so sorry! We here in California know all too well about bad air quality due to wildfires. Wishing you rain and a lot of it very soon. Take care.

  11. Bushfires are a terrible fact of life here in Australia, Lydia, and we have grown up with them and try and cope as best we can with the devastation they cause. Being far from harm does not deter from our concern for those who are in the thick of it and I think the community response to victims' needs speaks volumes about our psyche and how in times of trouble we reach out and help those that need it most.
Thank you for taking part in the "My Sunday Best Meme".
