Things I Know

 1. There was a link up called #ThingsIKnow back in the day, hosted by a very lovely lady. I miss those days.

2. There was a play called Things I know to be true at the Belvoir. I really enjoyed it. Lots of food for thought.

3. If you are told to wear a mask for three days by the government, as opposed to lockdown, and you go to a show at a venue with 2000 people and you 'wear' it on your bald head like a hat, I know you are a dickhead of the highest order.

4.I know there are people that want to get their vaccine but are being told  there is a month wait. If you get your shot done without such a lengthy wait, give a shout out to your friends so we can get the ball rolling.

5. When my Mum decided she didn't want to come to what would be a very empty restaurant in the city, even though there had been no new cases today and only two in the city of 5 million people, I knew I had no choice to get the FB input for where I could get a Mother's Day feast that could be driven for 45 minutes to her house. I don't know how I ever survived without SM. Saved the day yet again!

6. I know a lot of people have issues with Mother's Day. SM has also shown me that. Big shout out to Sukin and Mr Consistent for giving the Mother's day opt out on their email lists - you still get their normal emails, just not the Mother's day barrage. Ironically, I got Sukin for all the women that get Mother's Day presents from this house.

7. At the cinema, a slide flashed up on the screen of a smiling couple and the words "Will you marry me, Karen?" Karen wasn't her name but I couldn't remember what it was, so I guess technically that shouldn't be quote....I digress. At first I thought it was an ad for marriage and then I realised they had to be in the audience. About the same time as Karen worked out what was happening. The guy got down on one knee and she said yes. We all clapped. As the champagne came out, she explained out loud that Lux had been their first date. It was so sweet. I've said before that the post Covid, the highs are higher and the lows are lower. I know I need more of these sweet happy stories as they fill me with a warmth more deeply than they used to.

8. I know we need to do more for the countries where COVID is running rampant.

9. I know we need to do more to help the vulnerable in this country. Heard a horrible story of someone having to turn up to Job network appointments while under going chemo and with a terminal illness. How is that right?

10. I know I want you all to have a great week and I know I'm looking forward to swinging by #Lifethisweek again next Monday!

My Random Musings

  1. Love this Lydia. Especially the romantic proposal. The idiots wearing masks on their heads. Our need to do more for other countries. And of course the challenges Mother's Day brings.... x

  2. I know I enjoyed reading your post Lydia! How exciting having that marriage proposal happen before your eyes like that! I had to wait more than a month for my vaccine. I booked it ages ago but have finally had the first jab (my blog post topic today). The COVID situation in other countries (like India) just breaks my heart. Everyone around the world should be helping each other as much as is possible. I cannot wait for an end to this pandemic - it's just awful. Anyway - hope you have a good week!

  3. I know this was a fun read Lydia and you raise some pertinent points - doing more for others who are suffering being one! I love the proposal at the movies, these things make my day :). Have a great week.

  4. Interesting observations, Lydia and good questions. There seems to be a lot of dickheads around aren't there? Why can't everyone do their part? I hope you will have more highs than lows this week--hang in there!

  5. Yes to number 8 but number 3 and number 9 - what the fluff?! Thanks for the proposal story that warmed the cockles of my heart!

  6. Oh that proposal! How lovely! As for the idiot wearing a mask on his head, well, he's an idiot.

  7. I remember Things I Know too. Loved your post. Covid craziness is here. I blame Scotty from Marketing. OH. Not supposed to be political.

Thanks so much for linking up for Life This Week, reading the post on Knowing by my husband Bernard and for your kind words. He tells me, despite earlier thoughts, that he would like another go at this blog thing sometime this year. Looking forward to seeing your post for Share Your Snaps next Monday, 17 May 2021. Denyse

  9. Hi Lydia - what a lovely event to witness - a proposal isn't something you see every day. You're right about the highs and lows that have come with covid. What I know is that I need to be more present in real life and less present online - so changes are being made.

  11. Thanks for giving me all these points to ponder. That guy "wearing" a mask on his head is certainly quite a huge dickhead. I also feel for the person with terminal illness being required to show up for a job thing. Oh and that linky, Things I Know, should really come back!

  15. A lot of great stuff here. I apologize for not remembering where you are located but around here the supply for the vaccine is starting to exceed demand. There are just still too many people that are either afraid or are trying to make some sort of idiotic statement. I agree about the highs and lows being higher and lower nowadays. Its kind of weird to think about #KCACOLS

    1. I'm in Australia which is free of community transmission but a bit of a mess in the roll out (and purchasing) of the vaccines.
