By celebrating what's right with the world, we find the energy to fix what's wrong. Dewitt Jones

Having dodged Covid with a family of 5, and a household of 6 for two and a half years, my husband finally ran out of luck. He went diving and texted me from the taxi from the airport that he had a fever and aches. We were lucky enough that he had a place to isolate elsewhere so there was no risk of the kids catching it - though now school is back I have every expectation that it will walk in the door very soon.

I am grateful that he was not too sick (thought sick for about 5 days!) and fingers crossed for no long-term health issues - a friend's family of 5 all have long-term issues from it - including exacerbated tinnitus and one of the kids now has an eye gland issue. I also have a friend whose colleague lost her vision in one eye. So as my friend said  - don't listen to the people who say it's just the flu, it's nasty!

I am really happy that my husband coming home tonight, as he's effectively been away for two weeks now. Which is a long time apart for us. Though he did get to dive with minke whales so it hasn't been all bad for him....

I am also very excited to see Joy Crookes as one of my Splendor side shows....

The rabbit was something I walked past most delivery runs to my husband in the city. It really delighted me.

  1. Hello and thanks for visiting my blog. The one thing that made me happy this week was the couple of days at 27degrees C. Last week we had 18, 20, 22, 14. Tomorrow rain is expected. Have you all a nice weekend!

  4. Eileen, your comment is also visible back of house but not here. No idea why - didn't delete it. Just wanted to say smelling flowers in the street really lift my mood so I can see why your hibiscus makes you happy.

  5. I am so glad to hear that your husband is feeling better, Lydia, and that you and your children di d not get ill. So far, "knock on wood", my husband and I have been covid free, but this new BA5 variant is extremely contagious and it is hard to keep healthy when so many are spreading it around. This week my beautiful zucchini flowers have made me happy!!

  7. I’m glad your husband has recovered and has no long-term covid issues. So far me and dh have not caught it. I have been happy for many things, but I’ll mention walking my kitties in the garden. Twice a day it is.

  8. Glad your hubby is better. My son was hospitalized with it the first round when bad. Symptoms are better now, I guess. I feel, too, that it will eventually get me, but so hoping not. I don't even want the regular flu at my age. My son still cannot taste things so well after a year and half. I love the bunny. Great capture.

    1. Wow That's terrible. I'm glad your son recovered. That must have been terrifying. I am suddenly knowing people with ongoing health issues from it - heart issues, lung issues, eye issues...all having had it quite mildly. It's a worry.

  10. I'm so sorry your husband contracted COVID. I had it back in February and, for the first few days thought it was just like a bad cold. Well, it wasn't. Though I only had traditional COVID symptoms for five days and didn't have a fever at all, my physical fitness was affected for weeks.

As for a thing that made me happy this past week: my sister and her family visiting me. They have a nearly three-year-old girl and another who's just two-months-old. When my husband and I visited them last month, the older one was really shy around me, but now she was quite sociable.

  14. I never seem to stop by when your party is up and running, but I'm glad you linked up at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2022/08/magical.html. I keep mine open all week long - since you have no one linking in, you may want to think about extending your party a few more days at least.

So sorry your hubby caught covid and I'm glad he's improving and everyone else is ok! I lost my husband to covid on January 7, and I truly hate to see people acting as if it's no big deal. Stay safe and well.

    1. #Allseasons rungs for 5 days. I just don't have the time to run both so I'll keep that one short. People can join, or not. It was really more for me to shift my attitude.

  17. Yikes that he got it, but it's good that he didn't give it to the entire family. I know you'll enjoy having him back home.
