Koala


 As you drive into Hawks Nest on the NSW coast, you see koalas in the trees.
















These koalas.












On closer inspection, it is the Jean Shaw Koala Reserve and a warning to beware of koalas crossing.



Apparently the koalas can also be found in the trees in town, but my whole stay, I didn't see a single koala, even thought I walked around the reserve and all over town, and into Winda Woppa. Not sure how much is due to just poor luck and how much due to these issues.









While I was disappointed, we were lucky enough to see a mum and baby possum!

(Note no flash was used and I stood a distance and zoomed in not to distress them).

    The plush koalas look cute... but it's sad that the real ones are hardly to be found here anymore... Sweet possums - and a super adorable baby koala in the older post!

    I love the cute Koalas, it is sad they are endangered.
    A loss of habitat can be bad for any wildlife.
    The possums are cute critters.

    Those koala signs are adorable! It's a shame you didn't spot any, but the possum sighting is a lovely consolation.

    How sweet. My friend here rehabs our opossums and takes in many babies in the spring....When I think of all the endangered wildlife I can't breathe....Michelle

    The possums were a great encounter, and your photos are sharp and really good. I'm glad you did not need to use a flash. Shame you didn't see a real koala, they are in decline, and its so sad. The plush Koalas are cute though.
