"You must habit yourself to the dazzle of the light and of every moment of your life." Walt Whitman

My husband was already going to see a band I didn;'t like when Nick Offerman's VIVID date was announced. I couldn't be bothered wasting time looking for someone to go with (as I'd already missed out on a Solstice celebration waiting for people to 'get back to me') so I booked immediately and was rewarded with a great seat.

When the night came, I decided i would go early for some of the Oysters and Aburi I'd seen on my last visit but been too full to eat. So dinner and then a preshow cocktail at Neon Dreams.

I ate the Aburi fireside and enjoyed the festivities around me.

Neon Dreams was unexpectedly shut so I wandered over to the W hotel as I figured the heaving restaurants would be too slow for my limited time frame.

The W was a crazy adventure in itself.

It was indeed a 'Treat yo self!' moment (IYKYK)

Then it was show time and I was in the company of one of my favourite stars, though I did prefer his Full Bush show a few years back. Still glad I went and very glad I made the most of it!

It's funny how we usually minimise what we do on our own, saving the indulgences to share with friends or partners. That seems to be a waste of much our precious time.

And to paraphrase Whitman's poetry, no one else can travel the road for you. You must travel it for yourself.

The full poem is here if you want to read it.

  1. Since I don't have a "partner," I often travel alone. I'm used to it, and I'm glad you found you had a great time on your own. You gave us two great drinks for T this Tuesday, too, dear Lydia. Thanks for sharing and taking us to this wonderful adventure with you.

    1. I've seen him do a comedy show which I liked better. This was sort of an interview which seems really popular here and as a rule I don't go, it just seems lazy and what I can listen to on a podcast or on tv. But they were still funny and he had a few worthwhile things to say about mental health and doing things with out hands (crafts).

  3. Looks like a great show. When on holiday I often take a day off Ingo or anyone. Sometimes I just need a day on my own.

  9. I actually enjoy doing things on my own far more these days. I get to choose the time I spend and where I spend it. You are having a great time I can see too. Denyse x

  10. Hi Lydia, I think it is good to explore on our own especially if your partner isn't keen. Nothing is worse than having to rush through because you are thinking of how the other person is feeling. For example I'll be going to see JC Superstar next month and it doesn't float Mike's boat so I'll be going solo. Have a lovely week and thanks for sharing at #wwwhimsy. Sue L for #teamwwwhimsy xx
