I needed to get some of the kids passports renewed. I had lunch with a friend to verify the photos. She got to the part that asked how long she'd know the kids and said 'So what is it? Nine years and....nine months?' I was stunned. She's a good friend but what I considered a new friend. Yet apparently I'd known her a decade. How had that happened? And why didn't it feel that long?

As I often seem to say these days, when did I get so old?

Be thankful of the people that see you through the difficult times as well as the fun. Make sure you acknowledge what they do for you. Suddenly you discover they've been there all along.

One last little thought on time, is a lovely little quote that calms me in the panic of this disappearing life. “The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.” (an anonymous quote). Make sure your flight crew are good to have along for the ride. Make it all count!

    Love this short and sweet post! I'm amazed to think I've known my uni friends for around 10 years and my school friends for 20+ years! Really important not to take these friendships for granted

    I love this Lydia. Time is something we have the same of but so many waste it on things that only make them suffer. You never get the time back - but you can make a change today and make even moment really impact your life.

    What a lovely way to look at the passing of time. I often sit and wonder where the years have gone, or how fast they seem to be passing and feel a bit sad about it. But you're right, you need to make every moment count! #twinklytuesday

    I'm learning to value my friendships more and more Lydia - the numbers seem to be decreasing but the value of those remaining increases every day - the shared life experiences, encouragement, and care are priceless.

    Time does fly Lydia and I've had my Saturday Sisters running friends for 10 years! At the moment one is going through a very difficult time and we are all there supporting her because of our special friendship. That quote is spot on and I think I might use it.
