At $8.32, it's roughly the price of a card, and thus a perfect greeting for any woman about to have a baby, or any young girl, or a parent, male or female, raising a girl. In order to make the world better, and fairer, we must all evolve. So perhaps instead of a card, send this with an inscription inside the cover.
The quote I leave you with, is not on specific gender child rearing, but all children, and anyone with teens will recognise the truth in these words:
"You might do all the things I suggest, and she will still turn out to be different from what you hoped, because sometimes life just does its thing. What matters is you try. And always trust your instincts above all else, because you will be guided by your love for your child"
Those of us deep into raising a young adult, know that all you can do is try, and keep trying.

I'm currently working my way through her fiction - it's hard not to be charmed by the authors voice and reason.
Have you read anything delightful lately?

ReplyDeleteI'm not a reader, really I'm not, but I recently read Cows by Dawn O Porter. It's fab, good fun and one of the lead characters in an influential blogger so it's semi relatable.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking this up to #KCACOLS. This author sounds incredible and I love your gifting idea.
That is a great quote. We have to give our children the tools to face the world and hope they make the right choices based on what we have taught them. Thanks for linking up with #stayclassymama

ReplyDeleteGood for all parents raising any gender kid. #kcacols
ReplyDeleteI read a brief history of feminism for strong girls recently to be fair it made me think a lot about how I'm raising my girl whom I believe is exhibiting a lot of gender fluid traits. Might give this a go thanks #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that quote! It's a really lovely idea to send instead of a card too, I might have to remember that one!
ReplyDeleteI've recently discovered J.S. Fletcher's mystery novels and have been diligently working my way through them. They're all kind of neat and cosy and make for nice evening reading. :) #CKACOLS
This does sound like my kind of book. I began (quietly) identifying as a feminist back in 1973 when I was eight years old. I was tired of the boys being encouraged to pursue whatever struck their fancy while we girls were told we could become secretaries, teachers, or nurses and then eventually meet Prince Charming and become housewives.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really interesting read, particularly as a gift for new parents or for young girl heading into their teenage years.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up with #BWBR!
