We were back at Currawong on the weekend, though this time out of nesting season so
no reptile attacks on birds nests. We did at one point stand guard bashing a shovel on the ground to ward off three goannas (monitors) while cooking on the BBQ....but all part of the fun.
Serene sunrises, floating around on the lilo, finska with friends - all those small things that make up a relaxing weekend.
It's hard to believe this is Sydney. But I guess that's what I love about this city. Without leaving town there is an abundance of bushland, and small islands or remote corners that feel a world away...
Because you access it by boat, it feels like an island, thought technically it isn't.
Over all too soon, now we just have to wait until the next visit rolls around.....

I heard a lecture by a naturalist who had gone on walkabout with one of the last native groups, and he said they ate the goannas all the time, no cuisine, just lots of goanna meat. It was a fascinating lecture at the botanical garden in Canberra many years ago. Seeing them in your photo doesn’t make me hungry.

ReplyDeleteGreat critters, the monitor is cool. But, they are so big they remind me of alligators. I like wallaby and the cute Cormorant. The sunrise and sunsets are gorgeous. ReplyDeleteI've never been to Sydney or anywhere in Australia, but that's how I feel about living in LA. I don't need to go far to experience snow in the mountain or enjoy waves at the beach.

ReplyDeleteWow ! Australia is a beautiful country , the sky capture in first snap is majestic. Is the last bird captured a crow which seems quite different from Indian Crow. Thanks for sharing with Garden Affair.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views of the sky, the clouds in stripes are great, especially the pink rush of color! The monitor lizards have great camouflage and can hardly be distinguished from the ground plates. The penguin is also cute and the black and white bird has sharp claws.
