Not sure if this counts for #MuralMonday

Things I've Loved/Disliked
Been to a few plays and gigs since we got back and have to say it's hard to narrow down to my favourite. I had such a great time at the Squid Games Experience with friends that I want to go back and do it with the kids for my birthday. A Model Murder was excellent and I've just discovered it was written by the actress who did Prima Facie when we saw it, Melanie Tait.. She was brilliant and I had no idea she was the understudy. I also saw Hamlet Camp, and Ewen Leslie performed an excellent poem on living above and working in a bookshop in Newtown. Having worked in a bookshop and loving literature, it hit all the marks and was so funny and clever. Wonderful stuff!
I guess what I'm saying is I'm loving January in Sydney with the festival and the holiday feeling, even if the summer weather hasn't been quite so summery.

Sharing this Lawrence song which describes pretty much describes the female experience...and should change! I saw them on Thursday night at the suggestion of a friend (who I've never actually met!) and decided to go. Another friend saw the chat on SM and got herself a ticket too...we both loved them.

Things I need to Improve I really need to organise my time better. I've been a bit MIA at work of late so am now, already, behind. Not ideal for the first month of the year.

Things I've Accomplished Been managing an abundance of doctors appointments for one of the kids before school goes back. Her retainer broke so we had to throw in an emergency visit to the orthodontist (who is 40 mins form us - don't ask, and we only just saw the week before). We've managed to get the return visit on the last day of the holidays so I'm hoping that's all fine and sorted and school has minimal interruption.

Things I've Noticed Twitter is pretty much impossible to use. Without the hashtags you can't search anything, and when I used to go to the trending, I'd get 8 or 10 topics relevant to me, and now I get 4 and they all seem to be on US politics, which frankly, the rest of the world is pretty disinterested in these days. I will wait until the F1 season starts and if it doesn't improve, I may as well ditch. Facebook is little better, I assumed everyone was just off it but I've discovered that I just don't see what my friends post. No idea why, It's there, it just doesn't come into my feed when I scroll...so again, if it's useless I may as well stop wasting time on this too...basically what I've noticed is Social Media is becoming pretty unsocial.

The photos were from around Luna Park going to and from the Squid Games. Note also the bridge reflection in this shot left.

  2. I only use Twitter to post, I might scroll a few minutes, but other than that, I don't attempt to use it. I use Instagram for so much more. Have a great week! https://encounterswiththedavisfamily.blogspot.com/2025/01/share-four-somethings-january-2025.html

  3. I really liked the Ferris wheel picture taken against the cloudy background. I gave up on Twitter months ago. I ditched Instagram a couple of years ago. Enjoy your summer.

  4. Twitter and Facebook ceased to have any use for me ages ago, and now they are being manipulated by their owners for political (USA) reasons. I’m amazed that anyone wastes any more time with them.

    1. Yes, nearly all the authors I followed have left, as have my actual friends. My writing group seems to have vanished and so I was holding out for the F1 news...but I'm not sure that will reappear...should know in a month.

  6. Oh, I sadly missed Luna Park. In 1995... Gosh, time runs. Social media. Politics. Hm. The latter is a waste of time to me, be it United States, be it Germany...

  7. Nice photos and I like the fun mural at Luna Park. I've never been on Twitter, but Facebook is becoming highly annoying with ads and more ads and a whole lot of groups that appear that you "just might be interested in following". Like you I don't see much of what my friends post. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Lydia.

  8. I'm not much of an amusement park person, even when I was younger it really wasn't my thing. However, while at Dollywood in December DH got the itch to ride the Eagle but we decided to wait for fear our eyeglasses would go shooting off our faces. Maybe next time, we'll be better prepared should we get a wild hair to do something crazy. :)

I'm a total girlie girl. I like dressing up when I can and the very least I wear make up when we go out to places. I don't like looking sloppy. I see girls wearing skin tight exercise pants which are totally not flattering at all. I hate to say this but generally guys look better presented in public than gals. That's such a shame, too.

Thanks for joining the 4M gang on the dance floor, dear Lydia. I hope all goes well with the doctor appointments, etc and that you're able to get your time better organized. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!! xo

    1. Not sure what the comment about the make up refers to - the song? It's more about body image. I would say here women put a lot more effort into appearance than men. At festivals the girls are in these very uncomfortable outfits while boys are just in shorts and shirts...and in our heat, that makes total sense so I don't get why the women can't do the same...the song is more about hating your physical appearance due to pressures of comparison...and the film clip implies false comparison.

  9. I love amusement parks but I'm not a fan of roller coasters. I still have fun and I enjoyed the music. Ļ

  11. Lovely shots, Lydia. I've gone off Twitter too ever since it changed its name. Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
