Little Loves

Read I read a few good books here but my pick of the month is Louder than Hunger. I felt the need to talk about it with (bookish) people afterwards, it gave me an insight into disordered eating that I hadn't realised and it was powerful and moving to read while also enjoying the cleverness of the layout.

Watched We haven't watched anything amazing but I'm enjoying The Dry (a dark comedy about a family struggling to recover from tragedy) and Dark Matter (which I'm sure I read the book of years ago but can't find my review...)

Heard Listening to this cheery number a bit

Wore My new Twoobs. Loving them (husband not so much -ha!) So comfortable, with that feel good boost from being made out of recycled materials...rubbish shoes I call them though these are advertised as ugly shoes or Sneaky Janes...(I have all their shoes - I get compliments almost always in my slides and sandals, but I also have the boots. Thumbs up to them all from me).

And lastly Had parent teacher this week. It was our first in person since the covid lockdowns (as there always seemed to be flurries of outbreaks so they moved to zoom). It was sad to see so few people brought their child along. Precovid almost everyone brought their child along. There is nothing you will hear that isn't in the report, so it's much better that the teachers direct all their comments at the child. It was such a positive expereince, even in the subject that needed improvement. Teachers also offered direction on good practice to get in place for the HSC years, and help thinking about the elusive final units for the HSC but the best bit was watching my kiddo spark up and shine when they (the teacher and child) started talking about her assessment projects or things that happened in class. You see a small insight into your independant child (the grown up coming) that you don't see at home...

  1. Lydia,

We have a three month Apple TV trial and just finished watching "Dark Matter". It's one of the better series offered. We plan to cancel our trial subscription as it's not worth it to us to keep. Your song selection has a really good upbeat tempo that made me want to dance. Thanks for the introduction and for joining the party. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!

  2. Your music selection was so upbeat I almost got up (would have been a disaster for the laptop on my lap!) and danced. Twoobs (first I've heard of them - maybe they haven't caught on in the United States?) interesting concept, plus vegan and carbon offset - but if the shoes were in U.S Dollars (I had trouble telling) they are a bit on the expensive side for me. I had to look up HSC so another chance to learn something about your part of the world. Have a great week!

  4. Hi Lydia, your Twoobs look comfy but I also love your tights - so colourful. I just finished No Room for Regret about two convicts who were sent to Van Diemen's Land in 1890s. Apparently based on a true story. It is the first in a series. We've been watching The Veil as you know and yes I didn't like the American guy at all. Have a great week! Thank you for linking up to #WWWhimsy and supporting Min's link up. I'm proud now to be part of #TeamWWWhimsy. x

  5. Hi Lydia, I've never heard of Twoobs but they look really great. Louder Than Hunger sounds like it would be worth reading. It's sounds to me like your child has a very good teacher, who is able to keep the interest up. It must have been wonderful to see.

  8. What is great about parent teacher interviews when the child is with you is that, always I hope, the teacher KNOWS your kid!

  9. Oh I'll have to check out those TV recommendations - I'm at a bit of a televisual loose end now that I've finished Clarkson's Farm and the euros are almost done. Loved the story about parent's evening and that song too - super fun!
