Read The Psychopath by Mary Turner Thomson and in it she talks about how our relationship with our children is much longer as adults than minors, so our aim in parenting is to help them become confident, independent adults that become our equals. I just thought that was so interesting as it rarely gets talked about. Not when they're little, nor even as adults. I did say to people that once your kid is 18, you have to learn how to be a parent of an adult, and there is more learning for you than for the child in lots of ways.
Watched Ismo on the weekend - so funny. His support, Daniel Muggleton, who is also very funny (you can see him around Sydney quite a bit), made a joke about Americans, not a Trump joke, more just how different they are to us but in the Opera House (so 2000 people) there was an obvious Anti American noise in the crowd. I had noticed it a bit at the Jon Ronson talk but thought it was because some nutty lady in the audience wouldn't shut up about Trump. But this was def Anti American. I think those days of pretending to be Canadian when you travel might be back. I'm just surprised it happened so quickly (and frankly here where we suck up to America to the point of embarrassment). To clarify, Muggleton's joke was about how much Americans love their President and they'll cheer if they see them at a sporting event and Australians will boo him at a sporting event, even if they voted for the PM - he was not being anti American, but the audience kind of negatively ran with it).
Made My son's advent calendar. I ordered in all these little Japanese and Manga treats and wrapped them, 1 for each day. It's a teaser for our trip to Japan. I'm quite excited about it as the Advent calendars for men are few and far between.
Wore After HotDub and Harbourlife, I was feeling so much pain in my feet. I remembered how much I used to love my masseur sandals in the 80's, and wondered if they still made them. They do - so I ordered them online, while still in bed Sunday morning...and have been wearing them around the house ever since. They are working wonders! I mentioned it on FB and now all my friends are sending me pics of THEIR massage slides and crocs. It's taken off in a hilarious way.
Thank you for sharing and for hosting.

DeleteI had forgotten about those masseur sandals but I did love them... I should look into getting a pair next spring/summer. That advent calendar sounds so fun.
