Riddle Me This (again)...

It's been 6 years since I last did a Riddle me this post, so the only way to avoid a depressing rant about all the questions the Federal Government's lack of Pfizer ordering was to go 'old school'. So feel free to enlighten me if you know the answer to any or all of the questions.

1. Why do some things make you laugh hysterically but other people don't find amusing at all? And vice versa? (Assuming they aren't offensive in anyway, just the pure humour side)

2. How was Dusty Hill (of ZZ Top) only 72 when he died? I thought they were in their 50's in the 1980's.

3. How does music have such an instantaneous uplifting effect?

4. Why does sunshine feel (and smell on line dried washing) so good?

5. Where will all the disposable masks go?

6. Why do we refer to female politicians by their first name but male politicians by their surname? I am part of the problem here but I am working on it.

7. How can some writers even think of the beautiful phrasing and imagery for the most inconsequential scenes in their books?

8. How will it be safe to send 180 predominately unvaccinated 17 year olds from many different postcodes (in some schools, over 100!)  without creating super spreader events. Especially if they have to travel through the 8 LGAs on public transport (and I mean that only in a statistical increased risk of catching and spreading to other students, but could equally be a random case of bad luck too. Malta announced yesterday that almost HALF their COIVD patients in hospital had no symptoms. They were in hospital for other reasons and picked up in the routine testing. That is a country with 80% of the population vaccinated so the likelihood of attending school and being positive but asymptomatic is high).

9. Is there anywhere to recycle little glass bottles with eye droppers? And why does eyedropper sound wrong (but I googled and it is what they're officially called.)

10. Seriously, how did we get the vaccines so wrong?

  1. I don't know how vaccines went so wrong, but they did and I have trouble keeping up with the new rules.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

  2. Sorry, I have none of the answers to any of these (very good) questions. And yes, surely ZZ Top were all in their 50s in the 80s?

  3. Gosh such great questions. I am really feeling for year 12 students and their families. As if HSC isn't stessfull enough!

  4. Hmmm if only I could have an answer to all those questions! The vaccine thing is driving me nuts. In today's press conference Qld's CHO said for anyone over 60 who has had their first AZ shot and it's been more than 8 weeks - get your second shot now! How? I phoned to see if I could bring forward Mums second shot. Nope - fully booked. Sigh. Anyhoo. If you get the answers please let me know. Hope you have a great week!

    1. I got mine moved forward but I am concerned about the deduction in efficacy as a result and it waring off completely before any booster is on the horizon. I will be asking the dr how we check for antigens at around the 6 month mark...

    2. So I will keep people posted if there is any sort of answer.

  5. Great questions, Lydia and the vaccine issue has certainly caused problems and anxiety for many. On a brighter note, I'm guilty of trying to tell a joke and laughing halfway through because I know what the punchline is! Have a great week. #lifethisweek

  7. I'm going refrain from talking about the vaccines...because nothing but frustration otherwise. The disposable masks sadden me. And the beautiful writing question is something I ask myself all the time when I read!

  8. I don't know the answer to the vaccine rollout but I do know the government royally stuffed it up. I too wonder about the disposable masks - even though I'm occasionally guilty of wearing them when I exercise - I'm a walking paradox! Actually I don't have any good answers but I must say, you ask great questions!

    1. There is a thing out of Melbourne that says they're the most effective so it's hard to know what to do. I wear material but that was because early on last year a nurse friend said the disposble ones really only work for a short time (like 14 mins or something). I'm not sure that's true now...The Melbourne directive is more recent.

  9. Oh Lydia, woman of many questions...I am answering ONE. The HSC needs to be competely re-thought this year. It's Covid people and delta is extra nasty. Combine the stressors of exams and covid potential spread ...and I do not recommend. As I write I believe NSW govt MAY be re-thinking parts of this notion that HSC kids can come back to school, vaccinated and being tested every day. Nope...from me anyway. Thank you for linking up this week for #LifeThisWeek. Glad you could join in. Hope to see you next Monday. Cheers, Denyse.
