Be warmed by the fire within

I've been in s low mood this lockdown but when I sat down to write my Furious Fiction story on the weekend, that rapidly changed.

The story I wrote was silly and playful. It amused me while I tapped it out, and after I submitted it, I spent the rest of the day in a joyful mood.

The spark it ignited in my brain warmed me for the rest of the day.

It is not a winning story, I knowingly submitted it anyway but it fulfilled it's purpose. It gave me the buzz I needed.

In writing, that is winning.

  6. Great shots, especially the last one. An unusual subject for monochrome but it really works!

  12. Hi Lydia.
I think "Low Moods" catch up with all of us from time to time, but writing seems to always help. I was exhausted after work last week and decided to spend much of Saturday working on a story. I took several breaks to walk the back yard and rake a few leaves, but most of the day I was fingers on the keyboard fixing, rewording, completing and adding mental flavor to a new story that is getting close to being done. The thing is only 12-13K words but has a lot of timing things to work out and since it's hard SciFi, things have to be reasonably possible given current technologies and such. I actually spent some time checking out something on the periodic table of elements to make sure I had something right. Fun stuff and it put me somewhere out in the asteroid belt orchestrating a David v Goliath battle scene.
It was so refreshing. . .
    How odd - huh?

    1. I got Historical fiction in a recent writing comp and I discovered that I actually really enjoyed the research on that genre, and I imagine science would be the same. It's a really fun purposeful rabbit hole...
