Haunted

I devoured the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and the image of the trees and garden stuck with me. I see it everywhere....or I try to create it...

I was less taken with the movie but I think that's because the book put such strong images in my head, so the movie seemed 'all wrong'.

Does your imagination ran away sometimes?

  2. Hi, I don't know the book or the film, but my imagination sometimes runs away - and I definitely see images when I read. If the images in a film don't fit at all, I usually don't like the film.
For your linkup, I thought about which moments from previous trips were my highlights. The lion fight in Ethosha / Namibia is one of them. You'll get the link today.
Hugs and all the best from Austria, Traude

  3. Lydia, Love the picture of the tree!!! Thanks so much for hosting your blog party each week!! I haven't read the book you mentioned but I too get pictures when I read and don't like them to change. Especially when something is changed and the change ruins the conclusion, meaning or plot. That being said, have you read or watched Lessons In Chemistry - In that one I felt the movie seemed more realistic, and had more resolution and that made it better than the book. What was your opinion? Hope you have a great week!! Patty

    1. I too was not the biggest fan of the book (of Lessons in Chem) even tho all my friends loved it. I found it a bit basic, sort of Feminism 101 and it came across as condescending to me. However, I really enjoyed the series so I think maybe I read annoying traits into characters as the book irked me at times....

  5. Nice image. Our trees are losing leaves, which makes me a bit sad - I love fall colors. But this shows the character of the branches, which can't be fully appreciated when they are in full leaf.

  7. That is an incredible picture! So often, movies based on books disappoint.

  8. Beautiful shot, Lydia. I agree about books vs movies. The descriptions and storytelling are so vivid in some books that the movie just falls flat on its face afterwards. Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
