Valentine's Day is upon us. As we have a few expensive lunches and an anniversary dinner pending, we are thinking, rather than go to an enforced set menu higher than normal priced dinner (too much food with 5 or 6 courses!) we might go to the movies. We are waiting to see the sessions for September 5 (nothing says romance like terrorists -hehehe) however if it isn't on, then we will drag the kiddo with us to Captain America (because nothing says romance than your kid crashing your date).
What are you doing?
Musically, this is a little love song that's getting played non stop in this house.
Happy Valentine's Day to those who celebrate it.

Given all the hate in the world, I think we should all take this moment to celebrate love in whatever form that takes for us. For our friends (as Valentine's Day is in Finland), our partners, our family or just our fellow humans.
(If people in Sydney are stuck for ideas, the Comedy Store has a Valentine's showcase if you want to do something fun and a little different)

The live version is here because the 502's are so fabulous!
Have a great Valentine’s Day. I avoid all restaurants on holidays that have eating-out traditions. NEVER go to a restaurant on Mother’s Day is my motto. Ditto Valentine’s. Why be hassled, overcharged, and dissed? I applaud your decision to see a movie.

Personally, I think that love (and friendship too) should always be in season ππ₯°
ReplyDeleteIn Austria, Valentine's Day has no real tradition, even if the economy is working hard to make it a "tradition". After all, they don't just want to sell flowers, perfumes, chocolates, jewelry, expensive food... only on Mother's Day and Christmas π As with Mother's Day, we're not going anywhere on the day itself, but we have theater tickets for February 24th. (Edi and I don't really celebrate until the anniversary of our relationship-starting-day: April 15th. This day is more important to us than the wedding anniversary. This year is our 30th relationship anniversary.)
The cinema is definitely a good idea, and the film 5th September is supposed to be good - even if "not so romantic". By the way, we're also on a bit of a diet at the moment, at least since the end of our winter vacation I've been cooking low carb and we only drink alcohol on the weekend, otherwise water. (But on April 15th it will be different π)
All the best from Austria, Traude

Your Mother's Day is super early. I didn't know. Ours is not til May. Congrats on 30 years. It's a long time. We are 32 but only 25 married. Blink of an eye and all that!
DeleteI think I expressed myself incorrectly somewhere. Our Mother's Day is also in May: in Austria it's always on the second Sunday in May. But as I said, we're not really interested in it because it's mainly a day for selling "stuff" that supposedly makes mothers happy...
DeleteEdi and I also took our time getting married - we'd been together for 11 years. Then you know where you stand and whether it's enough for the rest of your life π
All the best, Traude

Happy Valentine Day to you too. Hope you will get some flowers or sweets. But I think love should have no special day....you could celebrate it every day.
ReplyDeleteHave a good time and all the best
Violetta
Great songs and Happy Valentine's Day.
ReplyDelete...I love those elevator door. Wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteA movie is always great and to see an Oscar nominated film is the way to go. Sappy love stories will be full of sappy kids. You just want ho be sappy with your wife:) this is a fun tune!
ReplyDeleteI'm the wife...not sure I'd describe husband as sappy...hehehe
DeleteLydia,
ReplyDeleteI read your comment at SongBirdsCrazyWorld. I was experiencing some blog issues yesterday morning and I think it's okay now. Thanks for joining the party. Nice song pick. I hope y'all enjoy Valentine's Day and your anniversary dinner!! xo
That is such a fun song! My husband and I gave up eating out for V-Day years and years ago.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we will be doing anything for it, we are of the belief that we do things for each other through the year.
ReplyDeleteNice postie and nice mewsic too. Double Pawkisses for a Happy ValentineπΎπ½π
ReplyDeleteI think it doesn't matter where it is, where one celebrates V-day, Lydia, as long as one is spending it with one's significant other and of course that there is a lot of love involved. Having the kids along, I feel is an extra special big dose of love involved... Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteWe don't really celebrate the big holidays but like to do small things for each other during the year. My DH did buy me a small cute gift though which was nice of him. I think your plans for a movie are better than going out for an expensive meal.
ReplyDeleteI think they spelled Marry Me incorrectly (or maybe just the angle of view?). That might be a little embarrassing. π³
ReplyDeletehope you had a good valentines..
