Something I loved I made a new discovery of a new Street Art Museum in Melbourne. There will be a lot more on this in the travel post so I'll keep it short here. It is excellent and it is free. There is no reason not to go. Just round the corner from Hosier Lane (famous for it's street art, though not one of the best laneways in Melbourne for art if you ask me.) The Outsiders. The collection changes each month, so pop back if you've already been! It was such a joy for me to visit.
Something I learned As a young woman, venturing into art, Yayoi Kusama wrote a letter to Georgia O'Keeffe whose art she loved, who not only wrote back but advised her to go to New York and show her art to anyone who would look at it. And so she did, and we now get to delight in her magnificent work. The lesson being, it never hurts to ask.
As an aside, even when I read the name, Georgia O'Keeffe, I get this song running in my head. Decades after I last listened to it.

You didn't miss the link by much, LOL! I have gotten my post done so late the link was closed! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteCool museum. I like the Big Bird taped to the wall. :)
ReplyDeleteI really really like those colours, reminds me of a leopard.

Your photos really are fabulous! What amazing artwork.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos of the art you saw. Fantastic artwork by Y. Kusama. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.
ReplyDeleteHi Lydia, incredible artworks and photos! I particularly love the portaits but the abstract art is amazing too! Thanks for linking up with #WWWhimsy xo
ReplyDeleteThe art is totally on point in this post and a street art museum is an excellent idea! I love that the collection changes monthly too - genius!
ReplyDeleteWhat interesting art, Lydia. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe artworks are spectacular Lydia!!
ReplyDeleteWell, they are different! I'd love to see those works for myself!
ReplyDeleteLove the black and yellow pieces.
ReplyDeleteDid you see the dotted trees outside the gallery? :-) Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
ReplyDeleteI did - they're in this week's post. We got out of the uber from the airport and turned the corner and I burst into the biggest smile. I said to my husband that Melbourne just did the gallery so much better than Sydney. We'd just put up banners...but the trees were so delightful (literally).
DeleteNot only did I enjoy the artwork, especially the yellow and black pieces, but the song also. The song was new to me.
ReplyDeleteThe abstract art is interesting, not my cup of tea, but still quite interesting. The realistic portraits are gorgeous, though. Your song share is new to me. Thanks for the introduction and for joining the party, dear Lydia! xo

ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Awww Monday and week. ♥
I have missed the link more than once...hmm...am I the missing link? :) the artwork is wild and her sculpture is quite different but fluid.. I like it. I l9ve the art work you showcase here. That wild room would make me think I'm at a fun house...or an Orson Welles movie. I never heard the song before but I quite enjoyed it.
