Just got back from a lovely weekend at Currawong. One of the things I enjoy is the abundance of birds and other wildlife, which makes for a lovely scenic addition to the peaceful surroundings.
The Currawong was trying to escape the storm - but alas my camera couldn't focus in the torrential downpour....

Hello Lydia,
ReplyDeleteGreat variety of birds and photos! My favorite is the Cockatoo.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend.
I would want to go there just to hear it pronounced. Sounds like something from a fairy tale and one of the reasons I love to blog!

ReplyDeleteI love the places names....what is the origin....Michelle
ReplyDeleteCurrawong is named after the birds, but the word itself "the exact origin of term is unclear; the most likely antecedent is the word garrawaĊ from the local Jagera language from the Brisbane region, although the Dharug word gurawaruĊ from the Sydney basin is a possibility.Yungang as well as kurrawang and kurrawah are names from the Tharawal people of the Illawarra region."
