Seeing Red

With the year of the Rooster upon us, I can't step out in Sydney without stumbling through a lucky gate or seeing lanterns.

We've eaten tasty treats at the Lunar Markets and read the wishes on the wishing tree.

It's hard not to feel the festive nature of the city, in celebration that seems to grow larger every year.

Does your city celebrate?

  2. WOW! What an amazing burst of color and energy! How could one not be happy in that city of yours? We do celebrate the arts here in Grand Rapids, Michigan (USA), but somehow it doesn't seem to reach this eye popping level!

  5. I like the roosters at the opera house. Auckland has a lantern festival but I couldn't attend this year.

  9. I'm in Hervey Bay in Qld and though a few businesses make note of the Chinese New Year the town itself doesn't! I LOVE those two roosters in your top picture. How gorgeous! #teamlovinlife

  10. Yes we do have a small Chinatown precinct on the Gold Coast at Southport, but I haven't visited yet. I hear it was all brightly decorated for the Chinese New Year. We were in Singapore for the celebration last year and it was amazing!

  14. No it doesn't seem to but maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Lots of winter fests this month, going to another one this Saturday. Great photos and color.

  15. Those opera house roosters are huge. We didn't step out for Chinese New Year but I did cook up a colourful feast with some friends.

  16. My city didn't do decorating for Lunar New Year, but if we'd had those lucky red gates at my mall, I'd have spent hours snapping selfies on the escalator. :)
