“Yes, as everyone knows, meditation and water are wedded for ever.” ― Herman Melville, Moby-Dick

We went for our annual whale watching trip - it was a little disappointing compared to previous years, but alas with nature, there is only so much you can orchestrate.

We did get three breaches, all of which I missed because of scanning the wrong horizon - but I did catch the slashdowns in a Tantalus style punishment...

The weather was nice and the conditions not too bad, and we did see a couple of whales so I can't complain.

There is a certain contentedness that being on the harbour brings, regardless of the purpose and outcome.

I never tire of Sydney from the water.

Have you been whale watching this year?

    1. We have a white whale here - he comes regularly each year. Was still on his way down when we went. They call him Mingaloo.

  3. I’ve only seen whales two or three times in my life and it was thrilling. We just got back from vacation on the US Gulf Coast and we saw dolphins twice day going up and downtown he beach.

    1. We don't really get those here (humpbacks migrate - and ours are white underneath and the northern humpbacks are grey underneath and neither cross the equator). I'm hoping to see some orcas in the wild next year....there's a lot of different whales to cross off the list!

  18. I have only been whale watching once. Thankfully, the whales were very active on that trip and we saw a lot of them! It is still one of my fondest memories and one of our best experiences on vacation. And I agree that water and meditation go together. We do not live by an ocean, but travel to one at least once a year. #MLSTL

  19. Nope I have never been whale watching or watching anythng else except a show in Florida when we went to Universal Studios I think. I think there was something like that, but it was dolphins. That was very cool & they're so smart, but up close & personal... unpredictable... nope.. not me! I'll just look at your pictures and read about your experiences is good enough for me. THANKS FOR SHARING! HUGS
