In Sydney there's been an influx of tourists, which is lovely to see. I was curious as to where they all came from, and according to my husband, the country. I guess I don't know for sure but I smile to myself every time I see couples here for Mardi Gras. It's like a little bit of 'normal' creeping back to our lives.
I am loving seeing the city burst into colour with the rainbow decorations.
Enmore is open! |
I had a party (with Gladys fortunately timing the announcement to 50) and the Thai food came in Mardi Gras colours by coincidence to match the Archie Rose Mardi Gras cocktails...though it wasn't a party for Mardi Gras, it was a party in the window before the next lockdown. A Unnecessoiree!
I'm not off to the parade but I do enjoy the three weeks of celebration. I know I share this every year but it's a good reminder (and funny song) of how to react should someone choose this time to come out to you.
Also sharing this definition, which I saw on Women of Colour Collective but applies here too.
ALLY DEFINITION
...I hope the you a good and safe time.
ReplyDeleteHope everything went well and happy Lydia :)
ReplyDeleteLove all the rainbows and your post shows how much fun it is getting back out there into some form of 'normal'. Hope it was a good parade and all were safe.PS. I had to go back and refresh my knowledge of bingo :) #lifethisweek
ReplyDeleteDO you mean Sydney, Australia? I didn't know Mardi Gras was a thing down under too :) cheers #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteMardi Gras is a HUGE thing down here. It started as a protest in the 70's but is now more akin to Pride.
DeleteI adore that Maya Angelou quote and Sydney does Mardi Gras SO WELL! It suits Sydney. Enjoy the celebrations & I love the name of your party.
ReplyDeleteI'm always envious of your escapades but sadly don't do anything to change my lack of social life etc...
ReplyDeleteI've loved all of the Mardi Gras pics I've been seeing over the past few days and love that it's such a joyous time for so many!
Happy Mardi Gras! Who can resist a rainbow confetti canon!? Not me. Haha.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mardi Gras! Enjoy all the fun and stay safe. #lifethisweek
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to see things going back almost to 'normal' but gee I hope it can stay that way. Hopefully!!
ReplyDeleteLots of love (and colourful entertainment) floating round Sydney at the moment. Good to see happy smiles
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy how the crowd for Mardi Gras enjoyed themselves at the SCG. Fellow Head and Neck Cancer Survivor & Ambassador as I am and also Original 78-er Julie McCrossin was there doing SBS commentary I believe. Thanks so much for linking up for Life This Week. Next week, we are #11 and the optional prompt is Floral. Hope to see you there and in the meantimes, may you be well, may you be safe and may you be content. Denyse.
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome. I am so ready to get back out partying in crowds again. #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I love all the rainbow lights!! #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteTry to be a rainbow in someone's cloud. Maya Angelou
