“Every flower must grow through dirt.” – Laurie Jean Sennott

This lockdown has been much rougher than the first, but I was instantly delighted when I walked out one morning to discover some flowers at the door. I figured they were from the Carriageworks market and thanked the obvious suspect. But no, wasn't them. Then I started asking around, trying to seek out the mystery florist. All day I buzzed with excitement. It had to be someone I knew well enough that we'd discussed these being my favourite flowers. I puzzled over it all day, reaching out to friends - checking in on them and laughing about the perplexing delivery.

By evening, the kind gifter revealed themselves. And yes, she hated them and remembered how much I liked them. They are  polarising flowers because of their aroma, so it stuck in her mind and she thought of me when she saw them. I was touched by the thoughtfulness but even more, I revelled the spark and joy the surprise and mystery gave me. That was a huge gift in itself in these dull, endless blur of days. For that, I was enormously grateful.
Speaking of dull, the best I can offer at present is the view from the dog walks, but as I've had to isolate completely twice so far waiting for test results, that is still very much appreciated.
This sunflower is the perfect example of the young sunflowers tracking the sun - I found out it's because of their stem growth - one side grows during the day and the other at night! Quick 1 minute video is here.

  1. What a lovely surprise indeed. Flowers are always a welcomed gift, especially flowers you love.

I hope your lock down doesn't last for a long time. We've had so many lock downs here.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

The mysterious bouquet is that kind of surprise that sometimes we have in moments when it seems that ... time stands still.

  5. The quote in English is Dirt (not sure where you are getting earth from - I haven't used it on the post) but it means from difficult, possibly unpleasant things, something beautiful eventually comes - and also flowers come through the dirt...
