We had snow twice in Japan, in Hakone - only a little, enough to get excited about as we walked around the Open Air musuem (and enough to hide Fuji on the cablecar) and then real thick snow flakes that stayed on the ground in Kyoto.
Even simple streetscapes became beautiful.
I know for those of you swamped in blizzards each year, it probably seems silly but for me, it was magical.
Thanks for reminding me that #AllSeasons is back! Here I am with my post! 😊 Japan... I don't know if I've already told you that we'll probably go there in 2025. Hopefully without snow 😉 even though I agree with you that snow can enchant a landscape. In our region there hasn't been any snow this winter, just very beautiful hoarfrost/ice crystals on trees. We want to go on a skiing holiday soon, and I'd like to have snow there, but please not on the roads!
ReplyDeleteYes, we have snakes in Europe! There are six different species of snake in Austria. Two of them are venomous, the other four snakes (including the dice snake shown in my post) are not venomous.
You're right, we probably miss people we know by a few seconds or minutes every now and then. But it happens to me again and again that I meet people by chance, be it my youngest nephew's father-in-law who unexpectedly sits next to me during a lecture (and only notices it when I speak to him), or be it, for example, that we go on vacation and the mother of my daughter's school friend gets on the same plane...
Life always offers surprises!
All the best from Austria, Traude
Hello and welcome back....and of course a Happy New Year. Snow in Japan at this time of the year. Surely not unusual. There have been Olympic Winter Games and as far as I can remember it had enough snow.
ReplyDeleteHave a good time and all the best
Violetta
They were up north and we were down south. This is our second time in Japan in Jan and our first where it snowed. So exciting for us, tho probably not as unusual as it seems.
DeleteSnow looks delightful as we sweat our way through a Melbourne summer with temperatures in the mid- to high 30s. Enjoy your holiday, Lydia! Thanks for hosting. (Nick from MAP)
ReplyDeleteI am the same way with snow because we don't see it at all around here. Very nice pics. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely for an aussie to have snow on their holiday. I didn't realise Kyoto would get snow. I enjoyed your great photos.
ReplyDeleteKyoto is one of my favourite cities. Pretty snow photos. I understand your excitement even though I see snow every year Thank you for your weekend coffee share.
ReplyDeleteJapan looks magical in the snow. I saw a photo of Mount Fuji recently without any snow on it and it looked wrong.
ReplyDeleteI know - it was very late getting snow this year - more alarming climate change news. It is becoming a real worry
DeleteBeautiful captures. In some photos it looks like a fairyland!
ReplyDeleteA Winter wonderland! How lovely.
ReplyDeleteSeeing images of Japan in the snow seems really surreal - how lovely! Thank you for sharing and for linking up with #MySundaySnapshot.
