Snow in Japan

We had snow twice in Japan, in Hakone - only a little, enough to get excited about as we walked around the Open Air musuem (and enough to hide Fuji on the cablecar) and then real thick snow flakes that stayed on the ground in Kyoto.

It did disappear again by the walk home but it was weirdly exciting for someone who rarely sees it, and three trips to Japan, this was the first time!

Even simple streetscapes became beautiful.

And the beautiful became more so.

I know for those of you swamped in blizzards each year, it probably seems silly but for me, it was magical.

Allseasons is back this week, and will think about if #Favouritefotos comes back next week....

#Allseasons linky runs from Thursday to Wednesday each week.

Link one post that shows something seasonal. Traditional weather wise, a seasonal nature marker or a seasonal celebration.

Make sure you link back to this  #AllSeasons post.

  1. Thanks for reminding me that #AllSeasons is back! Here I am with my post! 😊 Japan... I don't know if I've already told you that we'll probably go there in 2025. Hopefully without snow 😉 even though I agree with you that snow can enchant a landscape. In our region there hasn't been any snow this winter, just very beautiful hoarfrost/ice crystals on trees. We want to go on a skiing holiday soon, and I'd like to have snow there, but please not on the roads!
Yes, we have snakes in Europe! There are six different species of snake in Austria. Two of them are venomous, the other four snakes (including the dice snake shown in my post) are not venomous.
You're right, we probably miss people we know by a few seconds or minutes every now and then. But it happens to me again and again that I meet people by chance, be it my youngest nephew's father-in-law who unexpectedly sits next to me during a lecture (and only notices it when I speak to him), or be it, for example, that we go on vacation and the mother of my daughter's school friend gets on the same plane...
    Life always offers surprises!
All the best from Austria, Traude
