Marathon Weekend

Sydney put on the good weather (for a change) for the marathon day. All the previous 6 star runners went for the new Seventh Star.  Huge turn out in supporters cheering people on.

It was a lot of fun and surprisingly easy to move around the course.

Where I cheered from, the DJ kept playing YMCA and both the spectators and the runners would do the actions, bringing lots of energy to the 34km mark. Also appropriate for the Rainbow friendly city.

The winner of the day was the giant Labubu from China who ran a good time in a furry suit with huge mascot head. (The winner in my mind, not the official winner, obvs). I was too slow to get the pic as we all went nuts with excitement when we saw it. This lady was the Sydney Seventh Star - she's carrying the Opera House (but alas moved it as the camera snapped)

The Opera House seal, Benny.

We had taken the overseas visitors out on a boat the day before, and while the weather wasn't so great, it was still lovely, as always. A pav and lamingtons mandatory for dessert, after El Jannah chicken, which is pretty representative of Sydney dining.

It's always wonderful seeing our beautiful harbour through the eyes of visitors.

We celebrated post race at La Foote, gazing down to the Harbour Bridge, and everyone agreed it had been a wonderful race weekend!

Small shout out to La Foote, along with the great food and cocktails, I love that they support the brilliant non profit Two Good Co. (Changing the lives of women and feeding women in shelters - you can help buy using their catering, which is fab or their toiletries which are luxe). This sort of thing costs businesses nothing but does so much to help others. Made me very happy to see it.

The only disappointment was the other rally that went on and I'm glad the Sydney one didn't burst into violence as I expected. If you are worried about housing, look at negative gearing and the suburbs that campaign against apartments. It's not Immigration, it's low density.  As for the racism, we are better than that. Let's not follow the bad example of other countries.

Do you run or go to watch the marathon?
