Pumpkin madness


 I had thought the kiddo was maybe too old to want to bother carving a pumpkin but on the 30th she reminded me to get one...I had to race from Supermarket to Supermarket to find one - and Facebook reminded me this was not the first time I had to do a call out the day before as to where to buy one.








For those of you OS, Australia is too hot to do them early, so you really only get at best, 3 days before thy turn into a mess of mould or rot.

And they stink.



While the youngest was off to a party, I was glad she still wanted to do this childhood tradition....with the fast approaching adulthood, I'm holding tight to our almost lost traditions.

    C’est étrange toutes ces fêtes conçues en Europe du Nord pour faire face à l’hiver et qui sont célébrées aux antipodes dans un contexte si différent….

      We will jump on board any celebration - even the Portland Frog got represented here (in solidarity apparently but I think people just wanted to get in on it!)

    Yes, the temps are much the same in NZ, besides not many pumpkins around at this time of year.

    Oh, Lydia, enjoy every little bit of your kids' childhood quality time as you can. When puberty hits they grow up overnight and then they are more adult than adults, and they know everything while you know nothing! We had pumpkins for sale here, but much less so than last year when they were everywhere. They are all imported of course, and hence frightfully expensive. Thank you for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.

      Yes, this I know. 2 are adults and I am morning the last child who will be an adult in a matter of months! And somehow I got so old along the way!
