Long time readers will be wondering where my photos are - as usually every post at this time is splashed with a rainbow of shimmering lights.

I saw
the tech testing night - a little preview and then rain. Non stop rain! (or just busy elsewhere).

Finally got into the city, and after the shows or the choir session (thank you Opera House!), I wandered around VIVID. Alas my camera wasn't charged properly the first night so ran out. The second night was worse! The battery was fully charged but I didn't put it in the camera I was lugging around with me all night! (In my defence, I left in a hurry for the train as Choir is an early 5.30 start).

So here are some pics from the phone - not nearly the quality I would like.
I will be out again Wednesday night so I'm hoping that bags me some good ones!
Do you love VIVID?

For those overseas, Sydney has a Winter Festival that lights up the city quite literally, along with music and talks and food events. It's a fabulous time to come. An American friend we took round said in surprise "And all this is free?' Oh, yes!
And special shout out to the Drone show viewing at Home for refunding our tickets. Very disapointed to miss the drones but appreciate the refund as I wouldn't have gone in for the replacement fireworks.

The lights are beautiful at night! Happy June! Take care, enjoy your day! Happy week ahead!
ReplyDeleteDear Lydia-Mel, I think I've written to you before, I envy you your VIVID season! It's a shame you had problems with forgetting your camera or memory card (that could be me 😅), but you still managed to illustrate your post nicely.
ReplyDeleteThe linkup isn't open yet, but if I don't forget (as I said, Forgetfulness could be my middle name 😉), I'll post more pictures from the Canadian autumn. I hope that's okay with you!
Enjoy VIVID!
Hugs & all the best from Austria, Traude

Gorgeous photos - all spectacular. My fave would be the opera house.
ReplyDeleteI think these are fabulous; even if you did have technical difficulties with your "real" camera.
ReplyDeleteEven with phone photos, the colours and atmosphere shine through beautifully! VIVID looks spectacular!

Hi Lydia, This is really beautiful—especially photo 5, which is truly special, like watching into the unknown. I’m not familiar with Vivid, but what I saw in your post is truly beautiful. Just a heads-up: I’m viewing always an work only on my laptop, and some of the photos were a bit too large, causing them to cut off the sides, which is a shame. I’ve participated in a link-up like this before, but my sharing didn’t attract many visitors on my websites. Only from who do to organize the link-up , where I would have posted something. I have two websites and prefer to leave a comment on the post I’m visiting. And that’s how they found me and come in return sometime , which I really liked. I’ve now added your website’s URL https://pandoraandmax.blogspot.com/ to my reading list, and when you post new updates, I’ll receive your posts, though it might take a while before I stop by. But now i am here and reading post that i had missed. Greetings from out the Netherlands, For you and husband wish i pleasant days, Tine
ReplyDeleteYes, unfortunately the community aspect of the link ups doesn't seem to happen so much any more. A lot just dump and run now. I'm not sure if I'll continue this link up...we shall see....
DeleteBeautiful harbour and photos. I loved this area on my visit to Sydney.
ReplyDeleteIf it's Vivid time, it must be Winter again! Always something spectacular to see and enjoy, Lydia. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a joy to see. Looks amazing evening. In my small town there is no such exhibit, and your American was right. Would probably cost here is they had a way in the streets to have an entrance and gain money. Our zoo in the capital does do a light show in the winter time, but alas, you pay a pretty good price to visit. My sister treated my other sister and I to it one year. Was nice to see all lit up so can imagine how yours is. Love the first photo. Is that on the water or what is it?
ReplyDeleteYes, the Opera House is on a point, and water surrounds three sides. I was standing on the opposite side of the harbour and used a zoom.
