What season?

It's ridiculous. After a sweltering night on Monday, it's back to winter clothes today.

I'm at a gig in the Domain this weekend and am now wondering how muddy it will be.

There's been 43 people bitten by bats on the Central Coast and in the Hunter as they are staving to death and fall to the ground (and they try to help them - leave it to the vaccinated professionals as they have a type of rabies that can't be treated once the symptoms start - so if you do get bitten, go straight to hospital). The dengue fever in Florida and the rise in bear attacks in Japan are all in part due to climate change.

We will die a slow death due to unforeseen effects.

We went to see Digger, which is a great film. It's very funny, though grotesque. However, it's bleak - and it doesn't hold back. As someone who does what they can to reduce their environmental impact, I still had a moment of mea culpa. And I think that's why it's getting criticised. No one wants to admit they're part of the problem. The righteous want to feel righteous and judge others, but it doesn't let you. Go and see it, don't read anything about it because you don't want the spoilers.

  1. Ah, the classic seasonal whiplash! Hope the gig turns out awesome.

  2. We're having seasonal whiplash here too. Soccer games and practices cancelled all last week due to extreme high temps, then games cancelled over the weekend due to rain with much cooler temps. Now were back in the 90's, windy, with high fire danger. Meanwhile, beachfront properties are being destroyed by the rising ocean. I really need to go see Digger. If the human race is going to survive, we need to change our entire way of life and somehow slow down or even reverse population growth.

  3. A few days ago, the temperature swung by 20 degrees overnight. Now we are all sniffling.

  4. I can't figure out whether I should see Digger or not. Some say the movie is horrible and others think it is worthwhile. I'll probably see it when it comes out streaming.

    1. It's a great movie. It's very funny but very dark comedy and it doesn't just laugh at those that don't care about the environmental damage they do, it holds those of us that think we do more than others accountable too. And I think that's why people don't like it - it's not the film that's the problem, it's that we don't get to be self righteous.

  5. Hello,
Love the Pelican! We do need to change our way of life, I am still amazed at the climate change non-believers. I have not heard of the movie Digger, I have to look it up. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and a happy week ahead! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

  6. Yes, Lydia, I know what you mean. It's a case of "jumper or t-shirt today?"... Climate change is real and will cause more and ,more upheavals in the future. Thanks for hosting.

  7. Lovely sparkling water in the first photo and I love the pelican too.

I totally agree with what you say about Digger, I saw it last week and it is a must-see film.

  8. The view of the sky in the first photo doesn’t reveal the season; the sun remains silent, and the cloud cover helps it keep that secret.
I definitely need to see the *Digger* film—I’m curious about it.
