Kicking around Canberra

This week has been uneventful. I'm packing the house up so floorboards can be put down, and just discovering how much stuff we have in the process. It's overwhelming. I've packed up 2 boxes for charity, but am struggling to find a charity to take them.

If anyone knows of someone who takes children's books and toys, in good condition and working order, let me know.

Last weekend, I was off on a girls weekend, and my roomy was a friend who'd moved to Brisbane, so we had plenty of time to catch up solo, as well as in the group shenanigans. I also managed to sneak off and met Leanne, which had been a long time in the making and quite the highlight for me. She's as warm and easygoing as her blog leads you to believe. It was like catching up with an old friend!

It's so rare for me to take a break, to have an undisturbed night's sleep and to race around, free & easy. We ate, drank, went to galleries and exhibitions, and even for a hike up the hill at the Arboretum (I make that sound so much more energetic than it was). We also spent considerable time planning the next one. Daylesford here we come, apparently.

So last weekend I was truly lovin' life!

  1. Can you find a women's shelter close to you - they may be interested in children's toys or a hospital / drs rooms ?
Sounds like you had a wonderful time with your friends - always good to hear.
    Have a wonderful day xox

    1. The women's refuges were who I'd collected it for, but they're a no. Put 4 boxes of clothes in a Smith family bin but got nowhere for the toys and books. Thought I might ring the hospitals today.

  3. IT was so great to meet you face to face. Felt like I'd known you forever!

I wonder if daycare centres or doctors surgeries would take them? Hospitals a great idea. Also any respite type homes/places where terminally ill kids go from time to time to give their parents some time out ... or Ronald McDonald House maybe. Churches who are helping refugees and others looking for accommodation. I know our local church is often looking for furniture etc to help house refugees. Last option is to find someone who sells on EBay. Give to them to add to their stockpiles.

    Good luck with the declutter!

  4. Oh that sounds like a fabulous catch up. I've actually never experienced a girls weekend, it would be so relaxing and fun, though. *adds it to the bucket list*

  5. I've moved a bit which is handy because it means I'm forced to cull every so often. (And usually I'm grumpy when I'm moving so I'm harsher in my decision making!)

Love Canberra and love the pics!

  6. Why is it that every photo I see of Australia makes me want to visit there? You guys are mean - I can't afford the trip right now and you're making me want to take on a second mortgage for the journey!!

  9. I love girls weekends, sometimes it is just what we need to get our energy back too! My best friend lived in Canberra for a few years and I visited there then, it was beautiful, and so long ago now, like 14 years ago. I really want to go back and take the kids to the war memorial. Daylesford is a great choice for your next trip though, make sure you book a massage and stay somewhere with a fireplace .
