Taking Stock - April

Loved being on holidays, not entirely committed to coming back online quite yet...so we shall see. Still not written the two stories I'd intended to over the break. Too short a break for me.

Drinking: Finished the Koskenkorva Blueberry and Juniper Vodka. So unhappy. Trying (in vain) to get my hands on more. Anyone with suggestions please let me know! No one seems to stock or ship to Australia. So in the meanwhile, just stuck with gin. It's not cutting it anymore.

Reading: Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine. Not really enjoying it, but I picked it for bookclub so I'm stuck with it. Just started Possible Side Effects by Augusten Burroughs. So far, so good.

Wanting: Some time and motivation to write.

Enjoying: A quick road trip with some of the kids to the mountains, holiday fun and eating too much.

Listening to: Avicii. I woke to a text message from a friend, and have been mildly devastated ever since. I know it's transference, too close to another more personal loss, but I just keep thinking about him, and how young and talented he was. He was a crack in the pattern. It's a huge loss for music. While this is not his best song, I'm playing this on high rotation because it's so pretty, though in retrospect, a little sad.

What did April bring for you?

Linking this old post with #BlueMonday because there's lots of blues, both colours and feelings here.

  1. Those views in your photos are amazing! Commiserations on the lack of Finish vodka. Maybe you could contact Koskenkorva directly and tell them they're missing out on a thirsty Austrailian market?! I'm sorry about Avicii too. I didn't listen to his stuff, it's not my kind of music really, but when I worked at Lund University (in Sweden) he was someone who many of our students (esp. on our music production course) looked up to and adored. Always tragic when someone dies young 😔
By the way, I love that our posts have matching colourful 'blobs' in them, as they sit next to each other in the #KCACOLS linky 👁x

  2. Gorgeous photos! I know what you mean about Avicii too, it's a cruel loss no matter how you look at it, yet also kind of symbolic of more personal situations for me. #KCACOLS

  4. I hate it when you love something consumable and then it's not stocked any more. Grrrr. It's always hard finding out about lives lost far too early. I am on listen #2 to Eleanor Oliphant on audible. It is not often a popular book resonates with me but this one did and I am sure it is the narrator and the accents. Love me a scottish accent or 3. Thank you for linking up for #lifethisweek 18/52. Next week's optional prompt is "The A-L of Me". Denyse

  5. Re drinking - I am finding it harder and harder to get my "champagne". It's the only thing I can drink without health issues. It's a specific brand and flavour with NO HANGOVERS! There's a bunch of us who drink it and it appears to be getting harder and harder to find. I fear we may be the only ones keeping it in the market.

  9. I really loved Eleanor Oliphant. Read it in two days, even while I was cooking because I couldn’t put it down. Blueberry vodka sounds yummy, hope you find more. #stayclassymama

  14. That vodka sounds interesting - I haven't drunk anything stronger than a beer in ages. Lovely photos, too. Holidays are always too short, unfortunately. I hope you get back your writing mojo soon! #dreamteam
