As I wrote here, I was struggling to come out of lockdown. The overly cautious person didn't really feel like the real me.
However, this weekend we finally had a weekend that felt like a real weekend!
We went out to dinner on Friday night, just for pizza but ate in the restuarant - a first in over three months! On Saturday friends invited us to go whale watching on their boat and it was FABULOUS! I got as much of a kick being on the water and seeing out beautiful city as I did seeing the whales up close! I did unfortunately forget my real camera so the shots were not that good, but always better to see with the real eye anyway....
Sunday was lunch at friends....a fullish diary for a change. And a lot of time out of the house....I'm still watching the numbers each day but I'm getting there.
Feeling a little more like me.
I was ditching #SundayCovers link up as it never took off but then I heard this song. Original here. So I might keep posting them as I find them but the link up alas is no more....
Linking with #DND
That sounds like a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are now feeling more relaxed about going out looks like you had a fab time :-)
ReplyDeleteStill in lockdown in London although it's been eased
Have a safetastic week 😷😷😷
I admit I'm still a bit hinky about coming out of lockdown mode. But I've made a few quick starts into the world.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2020/06/glowing.html
...I'm not joining the opening of this here, home feels like a comfortable place and I'm staying close to home!
ReplyDeleteFabulous, glad you are coming out of lockdown.
ReplyDeleteCases are surging where I live, and President Trump is having a rally here in Tulsa with 19,000 people. Disastrous is what I think.
If I was in America, I'd stay home if I could. It stresses me. I worry about out 400 active cases, I couldn't not deal with your number (mentally). However, we are all hoping it goes or a cure is found.
DeleteGood that you were abele to get out and about, it certainly makes a difference to get back to almost normal. We have been out to lunch a few times but were on our own on an outside table so felt very safe doing it that way. I envy you on your boat trip, what a lovely way to spend a few hours.
ReplyDeletenice to know you enjoy your freedom and it looks like great day out :) photos are pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a really wonderful weekend. We are slowly coming out of lockdown here in the UK, but shops only opened yesterday and restaurants are yet to open. It been a tough and strange time that's for sure #AnythingGoes
ReplyDeleteWe're out of the Lockdown since a few weeks, still have restrictions, but at least we can breathe again😸Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteLydia,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how I'm gonna behave once we start to mingle with the masses. Right now, we don't have to unless we have an appointment. DH continues to work from home so that's good with me. I want to see how things play out for a wee bit longer. I'm a really cautious gal so I can relate to your hesitation. Your mewsic video won't play but the link works that you provided. Thanks! ;) It's great seeing you on the 4M dance floor, my dear. Stay safe & healthy. Have a boogietastic week!!
The kids and I went into a harder lock down than we had to (copying NZ) and took longer to come out of it than the govt advised. I think now is the time you see the flaws in your govts (worldwide) decision and make your own safety assessments. I scoured the globes news for how countries with low numbers were dealing with it. I took on some of their practises. I think strangely, a lot of countries don't seem to have capable people in charge (and I'm talking about us here). Australia was probably saved because a group of drs in WA more or less stormed their state government with demands and then the other states followed suit. We just got lucky that medical people got their voice across.
DeleteI'm still watching the numbers too and some are better while some are not, so being cautious about wearing a mask and social distancing. I couldn't bring myself to go out to a restaurant yet though, but did have a family visit at hospice outside which I wasn't sure I could do.
ReplyDeleteWhale watching on a boat sounds incredible, I bet that revitalized you. I'm glad you're making progress.
You had a fabulous weekend. We're going out for the first time this coming weekend. We're even going to a restaurant too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday and week. ♥
Sounds like a good time;especially out on the water. I'm still staying cautious, but then I don't go much anyway. Have had all the kids here so that's been nice as hadn't seen them for couple months. They've been a few times now.
ReplyDeleteSounds great! If you've been in your house for months on end, you deserve a night out!
ReplyDeleteWe never really had a true lock-down. Many where I live don't take it seriously. It's sad!
What a wonderful weekend you had! I wish I could say as much. We are still hibernating, but we've started going out for walks at our park across the street. Woo Hoo! Stay healthy & safe my new friend! hugs
ReplyDeleteI'd love so much to take a boat ride and be on the water, I'm so tired of my home and garden, sigh
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got out and all was well. The pictures are great shares.
ReplyDeleteI was able to play the original Shirelles video but not the cover (said it was "unavailable". I'm happy you were able to get out. I'm still skittish about doing many things. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHow strange. She's US based so would have thought you'd get it...
DeleteI'm so glad that you are finally out and about and feeling good about it. Being retired, my life didn't change much at all with the lockdown but I can understand your reluctance.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome to see you at 'My Corner of the World' this week! Thanks for linking up.
Feeling a little more like me - that is excellent news and what a great way to put it. I completely understand what you mean, it is going to take time to return to our old lives again. I bet doing familiar things felt really good though! Lovely pictures too! #globalblogging
ReplyDeleteYes, we had a restaurant dinner and went to friends' place to dinner and it does feel wonderful. However, we do have a little bit of a problem in Victoria with a spike of new community transmission cases. Back indoors now!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
I worry for you guys but I suspect a lot of it is you testing more than anyone (per captia) so you're finding the cases that we're missing. I worry NSW will discover they have a huge problem they just weren't finding...
DeleteWhat a lovely way to come out of isolation Lydia. Sydney is my home town so I love seeing the harbour and you saw a whale as well! Enjoy life and have a great week. #lifethisweek
ReplyDeleteIt's felt strange to me, returning slowly to normal. There are things about 'normal' I realize I don't miss like Westfield on the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your whale watching photos!
SSG xxx
We're the same and like you and SSG there are things about "normal" I didn't realised I'd missed, like actually sitting down with a coffee or having a meal in a restaurant. It's also been so great to be able to catch up with friends and have quality time together. There's a lot to be grateful for!
ReplyDeleteThe whale watching sounds amazing! Is it just me or does sitting in a cafe or restaurant seem a bit weird?? #lifethisweek
ReplyDeleteI thought it would, and was scared to but now done two and feeling pretty good about it...
DeleteI actually thought I'd commented but obviously imagined that! I've had a couple of outings in the past couple of weeks. Dinner with a small group of friends. Lunch with another friend. Lunch with relatives. I wasn't a huge socialiser anyway but it's nice being 'allowed' to go out more... if I wanted!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fab weekend! Love the whale pics! Must have been awesome to see them! Hoping things start to ease further as I'm loving getting out again
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the whales and to be able to feel you can start to come out of lockdown. Scotland is being very cautious at the moment
ReplyDeleteI am still cautious, and haven't gone too far from home. Love the whale tail photo!
ReplyDeleteIt's weird this whole coming out of lockdown thing. I originally wanted our borders to reopen but am now glad she's keeping them shut. We still have strict limits on the number of people in restaurants though- still at 20 if the space is large enough for that. I've never yet got a good pic whale watching - mainly because I can't take my eyes off them for long enough to fiddle with the camera.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see some of what you love doing coming back into your life...but as Victoria has found, no way can we be complacent. Take care...more care, people!! Photos are amazing.. Thank you for linking up for #lifethisweek and I look forward to seeing you again next Monday when the optional prompt is 26/51 Best Time Of Day. 29.6.2020 Take care, Denyse.
ReplyDeleteWe are just in phase 2...or maybe 3 now. I go back to work in a Montessori school for toddlers on Monday but it feels unsettling to me.
ReplyDeleteGlad it was safe for you to get out....whale watching sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe south and midwest of the US are headed into the disaster that they refused to learn from NY and CA. I live in western NY and we are not totally open. There are careful stats they consider. We are heading back to a very bad place. I will stay in..
ReplyDeleteOh, whale watching one big thing i want to see in my life.
ReplyDeleteBest regards
Bernhard
Photos are amazing!!! The song is very good. beautiful whale watching
ReplyDeleteTake care, greeting Elke
