Struggling to find my groove

I rocked last lockdown. We had, all in all, a blast considering we are a household of people that like to be out. This time, however, it's an effort. The highs and lows are amplified and the lows feel more consistent, thought I'm not 100% sure that is actually true. It just feels that way.

I am working hard to find things to buoy the mood. I'm making sure I exercise to lift my spirits.

I would love that feeling of hope I felt at the end of the last lockdown.

Thankful for the Olympics (sorry for Japan but it does give us something other than the shambles here to talk about).

I am excited War of the Worlds and Godfather of Harlem are back early August.

I am grateful my 10Km radius includes all the best restaurants.

I am happy so far that our dip in turnover hasn't caused any major issues yet.

And so we keep pedalling on, for it is only if you stop that the bicycle falls over.

  1. That proverb is pretty clever and not bad with the photo as well.

    1. Tried to comment on yours - just wanted to say that I love the B&W pic - it's like from the movie Inception with the reality becoming fragile (and melty)

  3. Such a beautiful sky! It can be hard to stay positive - sometimes it's just impossible. Virtual hugs if you need them ♥

  4. Yes, just when the light at the end of the tunnel brightened - more storm clouds. Praying for those broader shoulders.

  5. Ah, sorry about the lockdown cabin fever you're experiencing! I hope things improve for you. I love that quote, by the way.

Thanks for linking on Amanda's Books and More and leaving a comment! I will include my reply here just to be sure that you see it:
I use a third party comment system that only works if you load the page in http and not https. This one is the default comment system. I don't like it as much, mainly because my reply won't go to you directly.

  6. It IS different this time around. If things ever become "normal" again, we will have so many reasons for gratitude! In fact, a gratitude list started right now might help mitigate the blues.
Be well, my friend, and thanks for sharing at

  7. Hi Lydia you've had your share of lockdown haven't you. Here in Qld we are crossing fingers that on Sunday 4pm the week-long lockdown will be lifted but I'm not so sure deep down. I'm glad you are trying to fight that 'down' mood and looking for ways to lift your spirits. Stay strong, take care and safe. #weekendcoffeeshare

  8. You're doing the right thing to manage the lockdown. Keep up your exercise and stay connected with people who lift your spirits. Thank you for linking with #weekendcoffeeshare.

  9. Hi Lydia,
Here we're hoving just above the full masking restriction and am sorry this has blown again for you.
No fun and it wears down your attitude.
Hope that relief is close by.

  10. Great quote! Hang in there and keep positive. It is wonderful that you get your exercise, I am sure that helps a lot.

  11. There's nothing I can say that won't sound as if it is a platitude. Hang in there doesn't sound right, but glad you can find some things to still be excited about and grateful for.

  12. Well done with the positive thinking. Wonderful quote and a beautiful b&w photo. Take care.

  13. I hear you about it being tough to find hope right now. I think it's okay to acknowledge the suckiness of this situation while also being grateful for the 10 km radius. One day at a time. And i like the analogy of pedalling just so the bike doesn't fall.

  14. Yes, The lockdowns now are much harder to bear. Lockdown fatigue is a recognised psychological entity by now...
Lovely BW image, Lydia. Works as well as, or even better with a colour version you've published before.
Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.

  15. I hope you feel better soon in yourself I do understand wish this was all over

I liked the photo I found it quite peaceful :-)

Have as good week as possible 👍

  16. I hope your lockdown does not last long and you find joy again. My country is struggling with the Delta variant but people have sadly made it political here and not a public health issue. It will never go away here if this continues and I feel sorry fro young children who can not be vaccinated as yet. #WWonatuesday
