Take a break - Snowtime and the Hunter Valley

I've just had two weeks off for the school holidays, keeping off the internet (which unfortunately meant I missed an invitation to Singing in the Rain, but you can't have everything). It's not been that relaxing due to teen starting work at 7.30 am, and taxi duties still fell on me, and the renovations required a lot of time and labour at the house.

However, we did sneak up for an overnight getaway to the Hunter Valley, for the annual Snowtime festival. It's great fun for all ages, and the sun came out for us in the afternoon, so we even managed to swim (or in my case, read my book in the spa with the sun on my face). It was a divine luxury! For 24 hours I was truly loving life!

Did you make the most of the holidays? What did you get up to?

  2. I feel like I should put the Hunter Valley's winter festival into my calendar for next year. It looks like lots of fun - and something we could handle with a four year old, a two year old and a one year old {or at least I hope we will be working towards 'coping'}.

    1. Perfect for that age group - my tips: Go late in the day and for the evening, as the crowds drop signigicantly and go overnight staying Sunday-Thursday, when the accom prices also drop significantly and you can get 1 night only. I love the Hunter but it's unkind to your wallet!!

  4. This looks ace. I'm a big kid so this is right up my street. It's a pity you missed out on Singin' in the Rain but I bet that digital detox was just what the holiday doctor ordered! Despite the early mornings, renos and taxi driving, I hope you had a good break and are feeling refreshed and recharged :)

  6. Every year so many of my friends who live northside of Sydney go to the Hunter for the winter festival. I keep meaning to go. You've reminder me to put it on the calendar again! Bummer about the invite to Singing in the Rain.

  9. Sounds like you had an awesome time anyway. I so admire anyone who can digitally detox for any amount of time. My limit is when I am asleep...LOL

  14. My boys went back to school this morning and there was a huge sigh of relief! We went to the Gold Coast then spent time with my folks. It felt a LOT longer than 2 weeks, that's for sure!
