As you drive into Hawks Nest on the NSW coast, you see koalas in the trees.
These koalas.
Apparently the koalas can also be found in the trees in town, but my whole stay, I didn't see a single koala, even thought I walked around the reserve and all over town, and into Winda Woppa. Not sure how much is due to just poor luck and how much due to these issues.
(Note no flash was used and I stood a distance and zoomed in not to distress them).
The plush koalas look cute... but it's sad that the real ones are hardly to be found here anymore... Sweet possums - and a super adorable baby koala in the older post!

Lydia, thanks so much for taking the time to host the link party each week, I really enjoy seeing the adventures of you and so many of your readers, who are seeing far different things from me each day. I'm so sorry you didn't get to see any koalas this trip, but I loved the picture of mom and baby that you linked to from a previous page. so precious! - Patty
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI love the cute Koalas, it is sad they are endangered.
A loss of habitat can be bad for any wildlife.
The possums are cute critters.
Thank you for your critter post and for sharing your link! Take care, have a wonderful week ahead. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Those koala signs are adorable! It's a shame you didn't spot any, but the possum sighting is a lovely consolation.
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute and just make you smile along the way! Neat to see some nighttime wildlife too!
ReplyDeleteIs everything going extinct? Sometimes it seems so depressing to hear about one endangered species after another.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet. My friend here rehabs our opossums and takes in many babies in the spring....When I think of all the endangered wildlife I can't breathe....Michelle
ReplyDeleteHello :)
ReplyDeleteThe possums were a great encounter, and your photos are sharp and really good. I'm glad you did not need to use a flash. Shame you didn't see a real koala, they are in decline, and its so sad. The plush Koalas are cute though.
All the best
Sonjia.
Beware of Drop Bears. Take adequate precautions!
ReplyDeleteAwww, so precious. I have one of those. the darker Koala with a baby. You made me smile.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous day and week. ♥
What lovely pictures, I like the Koalas Cross Here sign!
ReplyDeleteI wish you could have seen a live one! Fun post
ReplyDeleteSuper cool pics. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad. When will people finally wake up and see that money isn't everything and that the world isn't there just for humans?

That is so awful. I am sad to hear this about koalas.
ReplyDeleteThe little possums are so cute!
We visited Costa Rica a couple years ago and there too, different things are affecting the habitats of wild life. We were lucky to see a couple sloths there (and a multitude of monkeys, reptiles and birds) but certain species you definitely see less of. Great shot of the possums!

Oh I adore the plush koalas they had placed in the trees also. Thanks for sharing and for linking up with #MySundaySnapshot.
ReplyDeleteI guess they have put the stuffed toys in so as not to disappoint the kids looking for the real ones... Sad to see our native animals under threat, Lydia. Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
