I heard....

I heard an angel singing...Well, not quite. I heard a bird. With the lack of planes to drown them out, I was drawn to investigate loud chirping. A rosella was singing perched on the palm.

Were the birds always there and I couldn't hear them over the plane noise or have they come back now the planes are all but gone?

Are you hearing new things in the quiet Covid times?

"Just when I thought my soul was lost, I heard the angels singing.
My dungeon was shook and my chains dropped off ,I heard the angels singing"
See the bird on the palm?

"In that great getting up morning I heard my angels - Hallelujah!"

May you be hearing angels in whatever form they take for you.

  2. We don't get a lot of noise where we are so can usually hear the birds fine, but I'm finding that there seem to be more of them - or I'm more aware of them? Who knows.

  4. I love the current silence. No planes, trucks, cars... I too am listening to the sounds of nature. At night I can hear the owls.

  7. Great pics - our apartment block has the most beautiful lush gardens home to many beautiful (and noisy) birds! Sometimes they sing so loudly, we can't hear the TV. Side note - British birds sound so different from Australian birds, at least in my experience anyway!

  12. Listening to birds is so calming--unless they are screaming :) Your photos at different distances are lovely to see. Nicely done.

It's delightful to see you over at 'My Corner of the World' this week!

  13. We had loads of birds visit backyards, including ours, where we lived in another part of the Central Coast which was much more developed...loads of trees and palms. Some evenings it was a cacaphony(sp) but I did enjoy the noises of nature.

  15. What a lovely photo! I am definitely hearing more during quiet Covid times. When I can't sleep or wake early, the dawn chorus is amazing!

  16. I realized how noisy the neighborhood really is when it got quiet, but I am loving the bird, frog and toad calls...Much better than traffic and airplanes...Michelle

  17. What a beautiful bird! We live in a built up area so there isn't a wide variety of birds, but our street is quiet so we can usually hear the ones that are around.

  19. We live next to a busy street and I'm amazed that I still can hear traffic all day and night long. In a time when we are supposed to be staying home or near home, there is so much activity. - Margy

  20. What a colorful beauty! It looks like a Rainbow Lorikeet..... frontal view would give it a clarity.

  21. I think there is a change in the natural world. Bird are chirruping in the most lovely way and seem braver/less fearful of harm too. Dogs on the other hand I think are spooked by people not fussing them as much as before when out on walks in these socially distanced times #GlobalBlogging

  22. Love this post, Lydia. Yees, we hear more birds in our front yard now that there is much less traffic noise. Even in the backyard, where it's usually quieter, I think we have some new birds visiting (wattle birds), which we used not to see before.
Thank you for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.

  23. I have enjoyed taking time outside in our garden or by the river. Fewer cars and planes to spoil the view and create noise. Thanks for linking up with #globalblogging

  24. A dramatic looking bird.
Last night I went outside for a little.
It was just about to rain - very lightly.
And, briefly, in the dark, I heard a blackbird singing.

  26. So beautiful it's almost unreal! Living under the flightpath to London Gatwick, I'm certainly not missing the sound of low flying aircraft. However the constant screeching of seagulls has increased to almost unbearable levels of late!
