“A harvest of peace is produced from a seed of contentment.” Proverb

Rather uneventful week, but next week will be fun. We had a lovely weekend away last weekend  and I wrote two stories so all in all, things are good. Quiet but good, and in these still weird times, that's all you can ask for.

I am sending cards and small gifts to friends in locked down countries overseas, in hope of giving them a little lift in what must be a pretty dire situation. It just all feels a little weird to be thinking about it all, truth be told.  I am going through the motions but not really feeling it.

As for what I'm loving? Today I listened to Aaron Sorkin on 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' on Fresh Air. It's got some good tips for writers (know what story you are telling, and write what you enjoy writing, not necessarily what you like reading) and a good summary of the issues in the US today.

I have another timed story competition this weekend so I'm excited about that.

Maybe that's the secret to contentedness? Having something you enjoyed and something to look forward to, because I'm feeling pretty happy at the moment with absolutely no way to explain it.  I know it's as ephemeral as footsteps in the sand (unsubtle segue to the photos) but the trick is to relish it while you're feeling it.

"The tide comes in. The tide goes out. We're always on our way somewhere, even when standing still". Bill Willingham

  1. Nothing better than getting away to the ocean. Such peace you can find there.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

  2. Good advice. We are taking a trip to get some sun and warmth now that northern weather has turned wintry. I'm looking forward to the change, but it is a bit scary. We've been so close to home since March. - Margy

  3. Oh I love Aaron Sorkin so will have to check that out. Well done on the stories as well.

I'm loath to make it sound like my life is bad or sucks but I think the lack of something to look forward to is part of my problem. I mean, does food or alcohol count?

    1. I count cocktails. I was counting dessert but I got fat in lockdown so I'm trying to cut that out...

  5. That's so nice & thoughtful of you to send cards and gifts to friends overseas. I agree that having something to look forward to really helps in keeping one feeling content. Right now I'm craving a bit of a beach getaway so I should get on to that!

    1. One of my friends in lockdown just posted she was excited she had to go out to pick up a parcel at the post office and was grateful from kindness in the post - she doesn't know it's from me yet, nor what it is but it made me think I was doing the right thing...will send more to others.

  12. Beautiful photos. I long to visit the sea but have to be content with smaller objectives. Lockdown is difficult second time round but this time we are allowedto meet someone to walk with as long as you are outside and keep socially distanced. Helps to keep us sane.

  21. These days it's tough to find some things that make us truly happy, or contented at the very least. When you do find those things, hang onto them and enjoy!
Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme, Lydia.

  23. Believe it or not I have never saw the ocean, and believe me it is definitely on my bucket list. More ever I would like to see blue water. I've been told about it and I've seen it in pictures. All I've ever seen is muddy water or green water l live by Fox river. Oh well, maybe some day! Happy Thanksgiving!
