The Red Balloon

As a kid, my Mother took me to see this movie, and we had the book (a story set to stills from the movie) so when I saw this in the street on my dog walk, I felt it was a charming throwback to my childhood.

I was overcome with a wave of joy.

I could see no signs as to why it was there, and I was deeply disappointed that it didn't magically follow me as we went past (I did keep hopefully turning back to check, but that's another story).

Sometimes happiness is simply a memory triggered.

May you all find moments of happiness today.

EDIT: I've just discovered the movie is on SBS on demand until the 14th Sept. If you want to scenically stroll all over Paris with a red balloon for 35 minutes, check it out!

  9. It's so wise to take what joy we can from small things around us. A small happiness when we most have need of one is worth more than a thousand great happinesses heaped upon when we do not want them.
Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.

  11. I don't think I've seen this before. I know what you mean about something triggering good memories. I lost my dad this year but simple things make me smile with fun memories (along with the tears sometimes).

    1. I'm sorry to hear this. My condolences. It's a huge loss that takes a long time to process. You discover a lot of long forgotten memories in odd waves at the most unexpected times. In time it can be a nice feeling of having him close again, even just briefly in the spark of rememberance.
