We had our first day on the harbour since lockdown - I think everyone in the group was just really happy to be taking in the sights of our beautiful city in the fresh air and luxury even though the weather was not great. Having been boiling hot the day before, it was too cold to swim and I had to change into warmer clothes before leaving home.
The sight of the Squid Game doll brought a rush of excitement though I was perplexed at the crowd (and slightly concerned if I'm honest, so I decided I would go early the next morning to see it).

Our harbour never fails to delight and we are so lucky to be able to share the day with friends. Even with reduced COVIDsafe numbers, it was still a fun party, though the karoke was extremely dubious.
We had lunch down in Sugarloaf Bay, looking at the remote little cottage that had sold for $10 million a few years before. So Sydney! In our defence we were googling to see if you could hire it on Stayz for a weekend...
I am still in the throws of release exhuberance, where any view that isn't out my window seems spectacular!
The sunset and it was time to call it a day.
We headed back home as the city lit up, igniting a new beauty as the buildings sparkled invitingly.
A travel blogger once said to me that she didn't like Sydney, and all I could think was 'Well you were just doing it wrong." (This is actually my refrain for Singapore - if you can't have a good time there, you weren't doing it right).
It is not an easy city to do on the cheap, but there is a lot of free ways to see all the sights.
We may have missed out on VIVID for a second year running but the city at night puts on a pretty good show regardless.

One of the biggest luxuries in the world is to truly love where you live. Or I guess in Sydney's case, be able to afford to live in the city you love.
Beautiful harbor, beautiful water and beautiful boats. You know how we love our boating here. love the large yacht near the end of this post. Wow.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and weekend, Lydia. ♥
Greetings and Salutations! Agreed with "Any view out my window" is better than being in lock down. Enjoy the harbor, the boats and the skyscrapers sparkling at night. Thanks for sharing the beautiful sunset.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views, the opera house and bridge are both such iconic sights.
ReplyDeleteYou must be very glad to get out of your lockdown. I think it's been much stricter than ours ever was (and more effective too).
So glad you're out and about again. I might not live in Sydney anymore, but there seriously is not a more beautiful harbour in the entire world.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite harbour in the world. Great that you are out and about again and what better place could you be than on the harbour. I used to live at Balmain East and had a lovely harbour view. We always enjoyed the ferry rides to Manly during our school holidays. Thanks for sharing your snaps and have a lovely week. #lifethis week
ReplyDeleteOh my, that was some day…..thanks for sharing it
ReplyDeleteTake care
Cathy #lifethisweek
What lovely photos again you never fail heheh! nice post :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a harbourtastic week Lydia 👍
I think I've already told you that Sydney is one of my dream destinations and that first the massive forest fires and then Covid prevented our trip to Australia. Let's see if I can do it one day (and see if I can do it right ;-)) By the way, we planned to make a stopover in Singapore on our trip to Australia. I am curious about these places. And I am happy for you that you 1) can live in your dream place and 2) had (after a long time) a different view than the one from your window ;-)
ReplyDeleteAll the best,

I always enjoy your photography. I would love to visit Australia but it would take a lifetime or two to begin to visit and appreciate all there is to see.

Hooray for being out of lockdown! I can feel your excitement from here. How beautiful is Sydney Harbour?! It always takes my breath away whenever I visit. What a great outing you had. LOVE the sunset shots!
ReplyDeleteI agree, you've got to love where you live and what's not to love about having all that beauty on your doorstep! Wonderful to see the harbour and city sparkling
ReplyDeleteWhere once I would be drawn towards a crowd to see what was exciting them, now I walk away from the crowds. I am fortunate to live in a city I love. It is a very expensive city like many others but walking and absorbing its history and culture costs nothing. Thank you for sharing your city with us today.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about Sydney - it's being able to afford to live in the city you love. I was lucky enough to go on lots of lockdown walks with harbour views but I still haven't been into the city yet. Still loving lockdown life though - it looks like you had an amazing day!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteSydney Harbour is so beautiful. Thank you for taking me back there. Stay safe, enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteStunning views, Lydia.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you can get out and about again.
Sydney Harbour is on my travel bucket list, though having just finihed watching Squid Games I think the doll would freak me out!
ReplyDeleteThat travelogue was so good. I haven't seen the Harbour since I went to Hamilton in May. You had the fill of all you missed on this trip out. Wonderful. It’s always good to see your blog in the link up for Life This Week! Thank you so much for being a part of this community. Next week I am announcing my plans for 2022 on Denyse Whelan Blogs. See you then too, I hope. Denyse.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the harbour, particularly during sunset. Everyone seems to be going crazy about Squid Game but I think it is too violent for my liking!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got to get out and about again. The sights you shared are really awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your link at My Corner of the World this week!
What beautiful photos of the harbour X #mysundaysnapshot
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day out and amazing views! x
ReplyDeleteThe views are absolutely stunning. Sadly I've never visited Sydney as I'm in the UK. I doubt I ever will!

Wow! What a beautiful city - I'd love to visit :) Thanks so much for sharing and for linking up with #MySundaySnapshot.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Lydia! I never get tired of Sydney Harbour and I always fit in a ride in one of the ferries when I visit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
That iconic bridge is known the world over. Thanks for sharing your shots!
