Zoom - Life Post Lockdown

This last lockdown I was completely over zoom, so I don't want to talk about that. It didn't make me feel more connected, it made me feel more removed and isolated.

The year is zooming by so fast. Yesterday I handed in my Xmas gifts to this charity thing I do each year, and am about to write my annual #Itsinthebag post  as Bunnings is taking the donations for Share the Dignity from the 19-28 November this year (but I have a story to write this weekend so it may not happen until next week).

I am getting a fuller diary.

I am trying to finalise our tax.

I am sorting xmas presents and advent calendars.

I organised a party. I sent out 20 invitations with an urgent requst for immediate RSVP as there was a huge waitlist of people to invite for the alotted covid restriction limited visitors allowed. An hour later the Premier announced it would be unlimited visitors to the house, and so the invite went out to all and sundry. We have a party planned! Whoot hoot!

I was down that all the foreign acts were still avoiding us, and even Rufus Du Sol* had a year's lead time on their concert (really?!). Then bam, Tiesto is coming in March. Unfortunately the weekend I'm in Hobart. Determined not to miss out, I changed my flight home and am now making a pitstop in Melbourne to see him. It's begining to feel like the old days, when I jetted to WOMAD to see Parov Stellar for my birthday!  Now more than ever is the time for ridiculous indulgence.

The last two years have dragged and then suddenly, we seem to be zooming along at a ferocious pace. Time is elastic but my age is not. I don't mean the number, I mean the aches and inflexibilty that seems to be creeping in. I need to get more active and get the yoga happening.

Lost time is never found again - Benjamin Franklin.

Are you making the most of the return to real life? May we NEVER have to do that again!

Pictures are not related but they were taken in lockdown...

* I know they're Aussie, my point is even those acts are taking their time in turning up.

  1. Hope your party goes well. Been a while since we have truly socialised, these days I think I'm happier just being a homebody outside of work.

  7. I need to get myself to some live music! Some of my fave acts though are in Feb, March and May next year {they rescheduled from this year}. I had hoped the Good Things Festival would be on but I don't think it is. That said, I'm also waiting to get my booster shot before I go into tiny music venues that I would normally get to (I was fully vaxxed in June even before the lockdowns). Hope the party goes well and the lead up to Christmas.

    1. I think Good Things is being advertised now. I'm a double masker in cinemas and theatres. And I'm seeing Tiesto in Melbourne and was thinking I'd double mask under a dust bandana...ha!

  9. I enjoyed your update. A party sounds fun. We are doing a "friendsgiving" but in December with a small group of close friends. I'm looking forward to it.

  10. Florida has pretty well opened up although there are some restrictions. We really did not have a lockdown despite the Delta wave. I sense your joy!

  11. I hope it will stay at your place...we had such good numbers and tourism was starting and now the numbers are going up again. Ok, not only from visitors but alone last week 90 imported cases.

Wishing you all the best for your party and a sunny weekend

  12. Your sky photos are gorgeous and I truly hope things stay calm there! On the contrary Europe is facing worseming Covid situation again, included Finland. Now there are coming new restrictions, no total lockdown andt that is good. The authorities are pondering a third vaccinaion round for all. I’ll get my third dosis near Christmas. We just have to live under this.

  15. I'm so glad that your government is letting up on you in Australia a bit. My heart was breaking for you all!! I'm lucky enough to live in a state in the US that doesn't even force you to have a vaccine to go everywhere since due to my health I cannot risk it. I've had too many blood clots and my heart isn't healthy enough for it. So, so glad that you can have a party with as many people as you'd like! I hope you party it hard! Have a Happy Thanksgiving! I don't think you celebrate it there at the same time as us, but happy day anyway lol.

  17. sorry to say that in the UK we are expecting new lockdown measures... I had a zoom meeting this week for the first time in months and it was odd how much we'd forgotten on using it! Thanks for linking up with #MischiefAndMemories

  18. I am glad that you guys are out of lockdown. We have been feeling very free the past couple of weeks as our household just had covid so we were feeling a bit invincible, but now thanks to the new variant it seems like its all about to go backwards #MischiefandMemories
