“Don’t fear the storm, for the rainbow’s never far behind.” - Jamie Worthington

GRATITUDE:  I've been having a rough time of late and the overall result is I'm losing some of my resilience. I went out to dinner with some friends I hadn't seen since mid-December and one of them just looked at me and said "You don't look like your usual self. Is everything ok?" I did have that  moment in "This is How" when I thought "OMG, is it coming out my face?!?!?" Anyway, I had a really lovely night with friends and came out of the restaurant feeling relaxed and recharged. I told my husband that it was just what I needed. So I am grateful to have friends that have such a beneficial effect on me, and hope I offer the same to them.

LOVE:  I'm really enjoying Inventing Anna (and had to go on a google fest to stalk the real people involved. I find it weirdly fascinating).  How did people be so careless with so much money? And I thought it was interesting how many people in the show were also on fraud charges. Birds of a feather, I guess...

HEALTH: Trying to get back on my cholesterol diet, and exercise more to exorcise the stress demons.

CONNECTION: Had a family dinner that my eldest came home for. I love having her around and I love watching her siblings love having her around. We all miss her. It's good to see and feel that connection. She's like a celebrity guest. Everyone is excited and animated to tell her things.

APPRECIATION: The sunny days when we have them. The weather has been SO weird lately!

CARE:  Just got to really be strict on exercise and not put myself in stressful situations, as I just don't have the bandwidth for it at the moment. Need to get myself back to a less fragile state, or back to normal. Want to get back to exercising out in pretty spaces, as it really uplifts my spirits. Hopefully now with dancing back on the cards, I can get a bit of that high energy too. I think lockdown has messed with me much more than I realised.

  1. I think we are all stressed and this war breaking out in Europe has me on edge. Once stuff like that starts nobody knows where it is going to go. Not even the guy that started it.

  2. I love your quote, let’s hope the rainbow emerges one day. The invasion to Ukraine took all my energy. I feel so disappointed with the world and feel anxiety. I know this is the first stage of shock and it will ease with time. I find it easier to follow my excersising routine in the spring and summer. In the winter I hybernate like a bear. Warm greetings!

    1. I just keep thinking of those mothers of the 18 year olds - so terrifying. They're still children!

  4. Do you know what? We are all affected as you put it...we are out of sync and can't really count on being or feeling what we used to. I know I am keeping right away from the news from OS because I do not have to know it all. I know, not head in the sand either but saving self. I loved it when our kids gathered together too. Recently happened for us. Now maybe once a year?? Denyse #weekendcoffeeshare

  5. It's certainly seems to be getting harder to stay resilient Lydia! I have heard about that show and am keen to see it now, hearing good things. Take care.

  6. "I think lockdown has messed with me much more than I realised"-I've been saying this lately too. Also feeling fragile and not myself. I'm glad your get-together with friends helped, and I hope you get back to your old self soon. In the meantime: for me it helps to remind myself that we've all been through a global trauma for almost 2 years. It's normal to feel fragile and worn out. Take care!

  7. Hi Lydia - sorry to hear that you're feeling a little less than your usual upbeat and vibrant self. This pandemic has been wearying for all of us - but even more so for those who thrive on social activity. I hope there's light at the end of the covid tunnel and you'll be out dancing in the sunshine again soon xx

  8. Just when I was letting go of my pandemic anxiety and starting to exhale, I started to stress out with world war anxiety! I think time well spent with good friends and family, exercising and doing more of what we love are great antidotes to the world and it's woes.

  10. I'm not sure why you've been having a rough time lately but I can relate. I haven't been myself for a while either. I guess the state of the world doesn't help and then all the worry about Mum and the time spent over there caring for her & stuff like that! Anyway I'm so glad the night out with your friends lifted your spirits. Perhaps I should do the same (once the flooded roads are clear)! I watched Inventing Anna too and was quite riveted! How can anyone have the confidence and audacity to do what she did? I also watched The Tinder Swindler. Have you watched that? Holy Dooly! Take care of yourself Lydia! xo

    1. It is really exhausting and overwhelming caring for a sick parent. Worthwhile, obviously but hard to keep balance internally. Add to that the rest of the worlds problems, and the floods so close - you must be quite brittle (vulnerable emotionally). I haven't watched Tinder Swindler next but will. I couldn't believe how engrossed I was with Inventing Anna. I even read Rachel
s book - My friend Ana afterwards!

  12. That was a great opening quote. Aren't you thankful for friends who take time to notice those things. I actually like how you worded "is it coming out my face" sometimes I think we hold things in so much that eventually it begins to seep out. Our weather has been weird too. I'm ready for nicer and longer days. Enjoyed your whole post. Have a great weekend.

  14. I've not seen Inventing Anna yet. I popped it on to watch a while a go and got completely side tracked. Would you highly recommend giving it a go? Lovely to hear you were able to relax and recharge after seeing friends. I feel like that after I've been to dance class. Thank you for joining us for the #DreamTeam x
