Street finds
There are two good street libraries on my dog walk so I am constantly seeing what's there and finding books for friends.
I found this one and was today years old when I discovered Casanova was real person who escaped from prison. I always thought he was fictional!
I love that even a book title can broaden your horizons.

What was waiting for me were these murals.
Because of the narrowness of the walkway between the buildings it was hard to get the photos but it was really lovely to be surrounded by these gorgeous ladies.
There is joy to be found in the simplest things, if you look.

Mother's Day - not for everyone
Tonight we head out bowling with my kids because I want to play laser tag with them (and there's bonus arcade games thrown in so it's a full children's party type deal. Ha!)
My husband got me lovely tulips. But this is not the Mother's Day celebrations I want to talk about.
Mother's Day is an incredibly painful time for lots of people. They have difficult relationships with their Mothers. They are estranged from their kids. They've suffered loss. They can't have kids. There are a million reasons why they choose not to celebrate or struggle to get through the day.
In a chat about the opt out emails from shops, a woman said "I know it's woke but I'm sick of them" because she felt everyone was sending them and my friend responded she was all for it because "Mother's Day is a sh!tshow". I personally am mindful of how many of my friends have a hard time, so I have a social media blackout that day - I posted about Finland playing Sandstorm in shops and on the radio at the same time on the same day to celebrate it's 20 year anniversary. I feel I don't want to add to anyone's discomfort. I was at my happy celebration, I shared it with the people I needed to share it with. In person.
I saw this post for the first time though it's apparently been around for years. It was shared by two of my friends having a hard day. for different reasons. I think there's plenty of food for thought in it.
However, as with all these things, each to their own.Linking with #SeniorSalonPitstop #TalkaboutitTuesday #HappyNow (I know this is a little unhappy, but I had happy celebrations but I also get happiness feeling I'm not adding to anyone's stress or discomfort).

Tell us about....Thursdays
Thursday for me is the day 2 of my F1 podcasts drop - Late Braking F1 and Idiots of F1. Formula for Success also dropped this day until Eddie Jordan died. I'd listened to it that day and then 2 hours later the news broke. It hit hard, having watched F1 since the days of Jordan racing. This podcast is well worth listening to even though it's no longer current, for the interviews with past drivers and stories of legendary moments in racing from people who were there.
Thursday is named after the God of Thunder (or Jupiter, depending on your language). The why is less clear, just that the Romans chose to name the days after the 7 deities.
Sue has mentioned the poem - so I'll share the Monkees variation on it.
As a child, our librarian at primary school read us the Noel Streatfield novel Thursday Child. Funnily enough I don't remember anything else about it, except Mrs Corocran announcing it was time for more Thursday's Child.
Memory is strange. We often don't get concrete details, just vague things that stick and we hold as a memory.
So I'm wishing you a Sweet Thursday. or like Avicii says Thursday's 'Waiting for love'

Tell us about....Blooming
It also, of course means to flower, and for people to flourish, to come into full beauty or health or for fire, colour or light to become radiant or glowing.
As my body seems to be endlessly creaking along, I don't feel like I'm blooming at all. Working on moving more in the upper body. Working on engaging my intellect a little more. Gotta use it or lose it, as they say.
The flower photos are the new rose in our garden. It was taken in the morning dog walk and again in the afternoon. A lesson in how quickly things can change if in the right place (& if you notice them). The beauty of blooming is not just the end result, it's the transformation and growth and all the imperceptible changes along the way. So if you are not feeling you're flourishing, don't be disheartened. Keep taking more steps to make it so. You can feel blooming marvellous along the way.
At a guess, when I go out for today's dog walk it will be dying. So there's the lesson. Bleak before my second coffee kicks in, but true. All the more reason to follow Luther Burbank's advice “Don’t wait for someone to bring you flowers. Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul.”

Lizard
Every morning doing yoga I'd eye off the shots but never actually capture them.
There's a close up from one in a restaurant here.

Bingo
One of my friends and I had our phones next to our bingo cards, refreshing each time a number was called, as if we were checking two types of bingo numbers. No Anthony Green for us, we had our own commentary in between the dancing and frivolity.

Winter is coming...
It's could and I've broken out the polar fleece.
Will change the sheets to the flannel ones on the weekend wash.
Where are those charming crisp autumn days?
The only upside is my favourite flowers have already hit the $7 pricing.
And the meals are becoming a little more 'comfort food' though as I'm meant to lose weight, that's probably not a good thing!
